    swollen crop

Like I said, I haven't seen her since wednesday evening, so it very well could have been over 24 hours...

    swollen crop

I didn't see her yesterday really, so I wasn't sure how long it had been swollen, better safe then sorry I suppose.

My bantam buff brahma has a swollen crop, and I massaged it for her, and it seemed to go down without any vomiting...normal?

    Roo or Hen?

I'm sure that's probably true, I guess it's a good thing my chickens are just pets. My kids were very excited about having a zebra chicken

    Roo or Hen?

Good to know! He just really doesn't seem like a rooster in person I guess. I saved them from what the woman called "freezer camp". She's a breeder and these two (the barred rock and NH red) had curved toes, so she didn't want them because of their deformities. They were too beautiful to eat...

    Roo or Hen?

That's what I thought too, but he came with another chicken (very clearly a NH Red rooster) and they're best friends. The barred rock is about half the size of the NH, stays out of everyone's way, and makes no noise, so I was just a little skepitcal....

Why is one chicken sitting on another?

Mine do this too. They don't seem to mind, actually they seem comfortable. I'm curious to see what other people have for insight...

    Laying eggs in the yard:)

I've heard people say to pick up the eggs and put them where you want them to lay, or place golf balls or plastic Easter eggs in their nest boxes :)

    Tomatoes

Thanks for the replies! I don't think it's any cause for concern at this point, I fed them the tomatoes almost a week ago, there were some red poops in the coop the next morning, and now like 4 days later they're all acting normal and pooping normal. They're even fighting over popcorn, I threw...

    Yup, just leftovers

    Tomatoes

Will tomatoes cause the chickens poops to be different at all? Like possibly red or runny?

    Very new!

Hi all! I'm very new at all this but have been using the BYC forums for advice for a while before I got my very own chickens! Now we have 5 RIR hens, and 5 silkie cochin crosses (4 hens and a rooster)! And we're loving it!
