Pekin is lame in both legs

Hi- I have been all over the internet and trying to figure out how to help my young pekin. She is lame in both legs, hopping with the aid of her wings. Leg joints seem swollen and locked, there is very little range of motion. I have added niacin, as some have suggested but I don't think that's...

can ducks be raised on a river?

Hello, Can pekins or cuyuga ducks raised on a riverfront home be expected to stay home? There would be a duck house and a pen, but if let out to enjoy the yard and river, would they float down the river and get lost? There are wild mallards, swan and geese on the river. Thanks for any insight...

    Do I have three roosters?

Ok, I posted a pic here a few weeks ago wondering about the breed of one of my " hens" and a few of you thought these might be roosters. Thought I'd take better pictures to see what the consensus is. Do i have three roos here rather than pullets? They are about 13- 14 weeks old. Speckled...

So proud! I "fixed" my hen

My Hen that hasnt been laying over the last week has laid an egg! I feel so much better now. After being adviswed that this could be a problem if she collects yolks in her abdomen, I decided to give her a good examination. I noticed that she had accumulated a nice sized lump of rock hard poop...

Hi Folks: Ever since I posted that my white hen laid a shell- less egg under a bush, she has not laid an egg. Is it possible the egg is being eaten with absolutely no trace of the egg left (not even a touch of yolk or shell)? Its been about a week now maybe a bit more- what would cause a 1...

I have had my two hens for about a year, I get an egg a day frm each and both are healthy and happily run the yard all day. I have never given a worming medicine, and am confident that they dont have a problem, all poops look fine. Should I start doing a regular worming medicine as a...
