    BANTAM: Barred Rock and RIR

Bantam Single Comb Rhode Island Reds- These birds were purchased at Crossroads last year. They are a nice, deep dark mahogany color and were shown at Shawnee this year where they did fairly well. Nearly 100% of the eggs have been fertile and the chicks that we've gotten out of them are very...

Calling Missourians!! I Need To Change An Ordinance!

Thank you!! I just got back from my city hall and it turns out that chickens are legal!! The only thing they have me on is the chicken house that I moved in. It says that the house needs to be at least 25 feet away from any residential structure. It is at least 25 feet away from the neighbors...

Calling Missourians!! I Need To Change An Ordinance!

Hey everyone! I just got back from our city council meeting and it was quite a firework show. I think they were going to tell me to get rid of our chickens but I convinced them to consider changing the ordinances. My city council is pretty cool and I know most of them quite well and they are...

how long do eggs stay fertile?

as long as an egg is fertile when it is laid, it will always be fertile. Generally, the older the egg, the worse the hatch rate. But I have had broody hens hatch eggs that were as old as one month

How exact do you have to be with turning the eggs?

I usually turn them whenever I think about it. so anywhere from 3 times a day to 15 (or 10, I don't really pay attentino). I've watched a lot of broody hens and they never really seem to have a set schedule. My hatch rates are usually pretty good with this method.

Bad hatch rate with shipped eggs- RANT...

When Seramas first became popular, we paid $150 for a dozen eggs... none of them hatched.

whos got the brinsea 40 DX???

Saw the new 40 on ebay too xD The only reason why I haven't bid on it already is because its a 240v so it doesn't work with American outlets. You have to buy a converter and a reliable one is about $50+

    ATTENTION: Brinsea 40 DX owners!

So... does anyone have any pictures? haha Also, is the humidity fairly easy to keep in this model? Or it is more problematic?

    ATTENTION: Brinsea 40 DX owners!

I'm trying to decide which Brinsea incubator I would like to buy and since I'm a very visual person, could a few of you who own the 40 DX model please post pictures of your incubator? Specifically the humidity/Temperature control panel. Thanks a million! Also, if you were to buy one, which...
