Thank you, I deal with necropsies for work often. If only tomorrow wasn't thanksgiving... I am going out of town so I do not want my chicken in the refrigerator. I called my vet that treats my animals at work and he's out of town until next week. He's an exotic vet so this is just bad timing. In...
I posted on here four days ago about my chicken having what looked like a broken foot. We splinted her foot then took it off a day later. My chicken was not going in and out of the coop on her own. I provided her with fresh water and food. Yesterday she was very wobbly when I tried to get her...
Following my most recent post, I decided I'd make a splint for my girls foot. I figured I'd post the results here.
A quick recap, one of my hens "ankle/toes" on one of her legs are just hanging and she is trying to step but won't/can't. I attached pictures below. We used a finger splint and...
I have a two year old silver laced Wyandotte that is not using her right leg. My chickens are free range and always great me when I arrive home. I found my Wyandotte by herself laying next to her food and water. She is still eating, wings are fine, she just will not use her right leg! I am an...
Only one is laying, both eggs were identical. She was in the nest box this morning for a half hour by herself so I now know she's the first one to start laying, even though she showed no signs!
My oh my I am so confused! I got a second egg this morning... Thinking the first was from my sex link (she squats and is super red), turns out it is my little nervous Nellie that doesn't squat and doesn't look mature and didn't show any signs! Wow am I surprised!
I wonder what my SL is waiting...
Gophers strongly dislike the smell.
I have had success with it for a long while now. You can spray it on your grass, plants, anywhere really. Diluted with water of course.
So before I had chickens I would spray a castor oil mixture in areas of the yard where gophers were taking over. I now have my three hens that free range on my half acre all day.
Anyone know if I can still spray my castor oil/water mixture on parts of the yard? My dogs are DESTROYING my...
Thanks for the responses. Hopefully I get some eggs soon from my SL! Cannot wait! I was getting a little discouraged considering none of them are laying yet. I have been keeping them in the coop a little later each morning, I will continue to make sure I do that. Thank you!
Hi all!
So, Ive got three lovely ladies- 1 black sex link (Cordelia), 1 buff orp (who we call buff) and a Silkie/Araucana (Nellie aka nervous nellie) cross who is super petite. The buff is about 25-26 weeks and the other two are about 24-25 weeks, none of them are laying yet.
I live in rural...
