    Milking goats

I am thinking of getting two goats for milking but am not 100% sure if it will be too much trouble or not? My game plan is to use a light chain (I assume they would eat through a rope or leather?) to keep them in place rather then a fence. That way I could move them around for grazing and they...

Does anyone know what causes this?

Looks like dew worms to me. Go out at night with a flashlight and you should see the worms on the ground half out of those holes. There will be tons of them if the ground is moist.

    racoon feces and free ranging

Welcome Sparkychic! I had no idea about the coon scat, thanks for sharing. I lost my entire coop of Barred Rocks and Buff Brahma's last fall to a stinking coon. I fed him lead but not until after he killed them all. I just picked up some new hens the other day, I'm thinking of getting a pair of...

    Wanted: Feathers and/or hair

I am looking for somewhat unusual feathers or animal hair for fly tying. By unusual I mean maybe some feathers from a golden pheasant, or hair from an animal not usually found in a fly tying supply store. I would trade you few fishing flies that I tie from it, or I could trade seeds if your not...

    2013 SEED/PLANT/GARDENING SWAP

The only seeds I can think of that are on my "want list" is Wisteria, but I might be interested in any seed (tame or wild) that can not be easily found in Canada. I would also be interested in trading some of my seeds for fancy looking feathers (Peacock, Guinea fowl, ect) I enjoy fly tying so...

    bee keeping question

Not sure if I understand 100%... only because it is late and I am tired. If I do understand, you had two hives that survived the winter. One of them swarmed so you caught the swarm and made a nuke. The hive that swarmed would have had the queen in the swarm, so when you put it in the nuke the...

    chicken wire

Has anyone ever had an animal break through chicken wire? Reason I ask is I would like to make an outdoor coop for my chickens (they are in the barn) but I know there is a fox around that has taken a couple of my ducks, so I have been putting off making a summer coop for them in fear the fox or...

    BR's or RIR's?

I would like your opinions on what is a better meat chicken, Barred Rock or Rhode Island Red? I would like to compair size, taiste, grow rate and any other reasons that makes one better than the other. From what I have read up on the BR's are more mild temper, but the RIR's are larger. Would...

    muscovy question

Awesome pic! One of mine looks just like your white one. My other female muscovy is smaller, even smaller than my mallard. I will get some pics to put on here after it stops raining, the ducks like being out in it but I don't lol

    muscovy question

Thank you all for your replies. Its funny, I have been keeping a close eye on them for a while now to see if they mate, but they never did so I started to wonder if the one I thought was a drake was really a drake. So just after I posted this question yesterday I was watching them out the window...

    muscovy question

Just wondering if the red skin around the eyes and bill (not shure what its called) would be less in a male than a female? I have three muscovies, the biggest one has alot more of the red than the other two, I had thought it was a drake but after seeing pics on here I am not shure now
