    Blood spots???

Wow! Thanks so much. This article was very informative. I have come to find out that my problem is not blood spots, but meat spots. I sure do appreciate your efforts! just wish my problem had a different name.....meat spots sounds better then blood spots, but it still sounds gross!! Thanks...

    Blood spots???

Yes! The spots are tiny, little specks. Eggs taste great and seem normal in all other ways. Agnes (I think my laying hen) is fine and just as jazzy as she has always been! She's the smallest and the craziest one. Go Figure!: :P

    Blood spots???

Thanks for the reply. It just seems odd because I had never seen this in any of their eggs from last year. And we did get quite a few! It is just a very small spot, sometimes two. I just remove them, but I hate to share eggs with family if this is going to keep happening. It DOES NOT...

    Blood spots???

Our 3 Buff Orps starting molting back in the fall. It was the first molt for them and one actually molted nearly 11 weeks. The other 2 weren't far behind. Then winter set in. No eggs since September so you can imagine how excited I was to see our first egg a few weeks back. Only one of our...

    Long molting season?

How long is the usual molting season for chickens? Our biggest Buff Orp, Margo, started the 1st week in September, and is still molting. Is this normal? Our other 2 started about 3 weeks ago. Margo's comb is pale but she is mostly filled in and seems to be acting fine. Edith and Agnes...

    Molting

Thanks for your input. This is the first molt for our girls too. A few more feathers laying around and their butts are not as fluffy as they usually are. But they good and still want to be held and petted. Guess I'll just have to wait and see about the laying. Season change is coming quick...

    Molting

Do all chickens molt? When they do, I know they stop laying, but is there anything special any of you do for your girls to help them in their time of need? :)

To Molt or Not to Molt....

Our BO hens are 17 months old. Recently 2 have gone broody and come out of it just fine. The Head of the bunch never has, yet suddenly stopped laying eggs 3 weeks ago. I thought at first she might be molting. There are feathers around the run and coop but not like there should for a molt (I...

    No Eggs

Thanks for the reply. I figured they were ok, but ya never know. Two heads are better then one sometimes! My girls are 16 months old. Are they still pullets? I don't know at what age they are considered hens? Never really thought about that! :)

    No Eggs

My 3 BO'all stopped laying eggs about 1 week ago. One had gone broody & was put in the Broody Box. The other 2 stopped laying at the same tiime. They have all been back to normal after Edith 's 2 day stay in the Broody Box, but no one is laying. They are eating and drinking well, having a...

    Fly trap?

Hi! Welcome!!! Not sure if it would work with flies since there are other things they might be more interested in.......but I do know that several places like Walmart, Dollar Tree, Target etc sell these little hanging fly strips. They kind of remind me of a big firecracker but you pull them...
