    I have about 15 layer hens (hatched the first week of August LAST year, so they're almost 14 months old) that I need to find new homes for. I'm going to be moving back east in the Spring and I'm trying to place my livestock sooner rather than later so I don't end up in a bind come moving time...

    Sounds like my chickens....technically, they can fly, but they never leave the yard. My chickens roost high up in the barn, much higher than my fence, but are content to stay in the yard.

    I'm thinking about adding some khaki cambell ducks to my small flock of laying chickens (all hens, no roosters). My chickens free-range and have a barn to go into to get out of bad weather. The pasture is surrounded by 4-6 foot high fencing, and I've NEVER had a chicken fly out of my yard...

    So I've ended up with a lost-and-found turkey..... a young Royal Palm hen (thanks to the fine folks here at BYC for helping me ID her!). I've got laying hens - chickens - and now one turkey. So do I need to buy a different kind of food for the turkey or can she just eat the layer crumbles...
