    Duck egg freshness question

Hi. Hewey kept hiding and burying her eggs. Even though I searched the spot, she had buried them under leaves. I found 10 of them. I simply thought she had stopped laying. Are these eggs any good still? Any way to tell? Thanks.

    YUM!

I had one duck lay them outside for a few days. I found if I kept them cooped up until 9, they both were finished laying at that time. Unfortunately, I can’t do that every day.

    YUM!

The eggshells came off super easy, although I attributed that to their being frozen. Here’s the website with the recipe: https://thehappyfoodie.co.uk/recipes/hard-boiled-eggs-masala

    YUM!

I looked for duck egg recipes here and saw the one for masala. Not sure why I didn’t use it. Anyway, after a quick search online, I found a similar recipe. I’m not a great cook, but I can follow a recipe. This was delicious!!! Maybe I’ve never had warmed hard boiled chicken eggs before, but...

    Duck egg question

Hi all. After two weeks of laying decent eggs, my duck laid one with no shell at all. Just the inside layer. I only assume this because I found the empty husk in the water dish with no shell fragments around it. After the initial egg was laid, all her eggs have been normal, so I never picked up...

Quick question... I hope someone’s up.

Dewey is the smaller mallard and new duck is larger Khaki. I think Dewey is very happy to have a friend again!

The ducks seem to be fine with each other. Dewey left the enclosure with the new duck for an extended outside visit for the first time since the owl attack. They are in separate places in the yard now, but no fighting. I think they’ll be fine...said better name the new duck.

They are 5.5 months and a almost a year. New duck is older

Quick question... I hope someone’s up.

Hi. I just brought home a companion duck for my last mallard. She’s a female Khaki Campbell not too much larger than Dewey. I put her in the enclosure and Dewey hid in a corner. The new duck followed her there and they stood next to each other until I chased them back under the heat lamp where...

$1000 Duck Egg ... Many questions now.

Hi! I'm a grandpa...of sorts. If you've seen me post before, you'll know I had 3 ducks originally called Huey, Dewey and Louie. Much to my chagrin they turned out to be mallards - not the Rouens I was expecting! They learned to fly, and fly away so well that they caught the attention of a barn...

    Ok. Debate time.

Louie seemed to have this problem. Not so Huey and Dewey. They fly for several minutes extremely high in the air, beyond gunshot range easily. They easily cover miles in one stretch. I can’t come close to following them in the truck. They can also fly with precision. There is a 6-8 inch gap in...

    Ok. Debate time.

Hi. OP here. I’m reading strong arguments for both sides. I do not intend to release them into the wild, therefore it is not illegal. If they happen to like it better out there, I think they would survive fine...these two. Louie, however, I’m sure did not fare so well alone. These two left her...

    Ok. Debate time.

So...Huey and Dewey returned again today. I can live with them flying away for a day or two. I can also live with them flying away to warmer climes. I guess I’m wondering if they would survive taking off like that, which Lydia has answered. Anybody else care to weigh in? The only reason I can...

    Ok. Debate time.

It’s not really about what I want at this point. I wanted egg-laying ducks that couldn’t fly. TSC messed that up for me. I believe they should be free to fly because we have the threat of predators. I hope they return safely after taking off, but if they’re looking for greener pastures, they’re...
