Hi Martha,
I pulled some information out of the code for your county. Your neighbor is within their rights to complain about the rooster. However, I think that the chickens might be okay.
§ 12-4-904. Animal disturbance prohibited.

I have mine on grower with free choice oyster shells. That way the ones that are laying already can get the calcium they need. I've heard that too much calcium can hurt your non-laying birds.
My sweet little Silkie hen (Dresdy/Dresden) turned out to be a rooster. I purchased her from TSC in early April. "She" suffered a pretty bad injury to her wing a little over a month ago. I nursed her back to health and she rejoined the flock about 2-3 weeks ago. Then I noticed that "she" was...
Thanks everyone! I'm having a hard time justifying the cost to my husband! I guess that this might be something that I have to save up for and buy with my slush fund. :-P
So I took a better photo of our first egg... it is so adorable!! I love the color. The shell is nice and hard, too. So many things I've read talk about the first eggs being soft or not having shells that I was surprised by how sturdy it seems.
I'm pretty sure that it was our golden comet that...
Wootwoot! Got our first egg today... we have 5 black stars (17 weeks on sunday), 4 golden comets and a silkie (16 weeks around today)... I don't know whose it is yet, although I'm positive it isn't the silkie. Hubby texted me the photo, so I have no idea how large it is. I can't wait to get home...
WOOHOO!! We just got our first egg!
Not sure who it came from - we have 5 black stars who will be 17 weeks old on Sunday and 4 golden comets who are about 16 weeks old now. My hubby sent me a text with a photo of it, so he was the lucky egg finder. I'm so jealous that he got to find it and...

What kind of chickens do you have?
I know that it's a little early, but I am ready for some eggs! I have 5 black stars that are 15 weeks and one day, a silkie and 4 red stars that are about 14.5 weeks. Two of my black stars look like they're going to start soon. I can't wait!!!
This is the least expensive one that I've found:
