12 week old silkies- pullet or cockerels?

Its looking like to me these may both pullets? They have nice round fluffy head poofs and bums, no obvious comb, and only one has slight wattle development. Is this too early to tell?

Roosters available: Lavender Orpington, Delaware, French Black Copper Marans, Seramas

Hi! I have some roosters in need of new homes soon, as they are illegal in my city and would prefer to not send them to my freezer. Located in the bay area. What I currently have and ready for new homes ASAP: 18 week old Delaware (n = 1, Meyer Hatchery) 18 week old Lavender Orpington (n = 1...

What effect does LED lighting have on quail and other poultry?

My quail are huge at 2 weeks too! Also on a 30% gamebird starter. For kicks, here's a 2 week quail vs 5 week Serama taken on the same day.

Here ya go: these are the 14 week old Delaware and Orpington roos. Not crowing yet, very polite (my older biddies boss them around still). I can't understage how HUGE the Delaware is! (also ignore the blue kote fail)

Anyone interested in a 14 week old lavender orpington or delaware roo? Also looks like I will have 2-3 french black copper maran roos from Alchemist farm, but it's a little too early to tell. Otherwise I'll send them to freezer camp. I'm weary about the cock fighting in the area, would hate for...

I think there's a feed store in RWC? I'm east bay - concord feed and biofuel oasis have chicks. I drove up to Sebastopol to pick up chicks from Alchemist farm and I'm so impressed by their quality.

    Another injured hen

Thank you, this is something that I have in the back of my mind, and my main focus is to maintain a high quality of life within reason. I adopted a flock of senior birds in January that had been displaced from the CA fires this past fall. Of the 8 birds, the age distribution is 3 years old (2...

    Another injured hen

This time there is no obvious signs of bumblefoot or trauma (no blood, no broken bones). 8 year old polish hen who is still laying is very lame on one side. There is a lump on her back on the same side that is lame. I had her overnight inside for observation. I got her eating some yogurt this...

    Bumblefoot?

    Bumblefoot?

She's not limping, she can be a little stiff after getting up from standing, but seems to forage just fine. Here's another view. Tomorrow i'll get a better look at it (bring her into my bathroom with better lighting). I think it's been likely going on for a while, I got her in mid-January with...

    Bumblefoot?

I have a 9 year old chicken I adopted who has this odd looking toe. Another member of her flock who is 8yrs absolutely has bumblefoot in both feet that I currently am treating. I'm also treating both for scaly leg. Any thoughts what this is?
