Thankyou so much. I do love to sit and watch the chooks scratch and pick. I leave a chair out by the pen for just that purpose. I call it watching chook tv. So peaceful, it is.
How ironic. My home is actually just north of the lake about six miles west of Madisonville in Bedico. We also lived down the bayou for years in Dulac below Houma. We have been here in Kentucky for 14 years.

I have never wormed chickens before. Is it something they need? How can you tell if it's needed. I am asking because I have a 1 1/2 yo bantam hen that is having problems with weakness and soft stool. She is also very thin.
I just had a less than optimum hatch. 14 out of 24 eggs. One chick had trouble getting out of the shell and had to have help. Looks like it may live but it is weak. The membrane in that egg was very thick. I cracked the eggs that didn't hatch to see what had happened with them. 2 had not begun...
