I’ve raised chickens for 20 years and have never seen this before. The egg is soft which I have seen but a cord attached?!! My chickens are 6 months old and have just started laying. Weird!!

Refuse to think of the egg as a baby. Put that thought out of your mind. The egg is not a baby chick, it is a gift to you from your hen so accept the gift and be grateful and enjoy. It will be the best egg you have ever eaten!

No new chickens in the flock, they are the new ones. I have 3 Americanas that are 2 years old. Bought these as chicks from a hatchery.

I have one hen that limps as if her leg is broken and yawns really big with her beak in the air and another that is limping as if she has a sore leg. Has my roo broken their leg or do they have a vitamin deficiency or is the dreaded Mareks disease? The hens are 6 months old.

Okay, you have given me some good instructions I will certainly try to get her healthy.

Thank you, thank you! Yes I will change the feed, get the medicine and spa day til she is better. I have 4 grown hens and I had no Ideal I could be harming the little ones with the wrong feed. Thank you again for the great info.

Further proof she is sick is she let me turn her on her side and back for pictures. Poor baby chick.

First picture is the beast bone. You can see the nice pink bony skin and then the brown bumpy hard skin. Second pic is of the vent area it's hard and bumpy.
