24 Hours Large Pip Hole & Nothing

Yayy I'm so happy for you and the chick! Yes, you do really learn the most after actually hatching. Great ideas! If there is to much "sticky stuff" on the chicks I would either just leave it, it will come off by itself, or just dab it with a little bit of coconut oil. it's up to you. Your...

It sounds healthy to me! I usually take my ducklings out a couple of hours after hatching and put them straight into the place I have set up, but it's up to you. It's totally normal that the chick is sleepy. He's had a long and tiring past couple of days. Can we see a picture?

So is the yolk still in the egg? It's normal to have a little bit of poop and then there's always a little bit of "goop" that's part of the membrane, and they eat that. That is not the yolk. Yes, I was going to say that! I just learned that when it yawns/chews it is not ready. Wait until tomorrow and check on it again!

I would leave it, as you can see the beak is still trying to come out. Be sure to check on it every so often, make sure it's still breathing and still trying to come out. If it gives up, then I would start to think of helping it--not until then. Does that help?

    Finally asking....

Wow, thanks for all of the replies. Unfortunately, I can't try to fish out all of the basses because it is a community and you cannot fish without putting them back in the lake. I could call a fish and game service but we don't want to get in trouble with the Community Board. We also can't save...

    Finally asking....

Hello! This is a very important question so please please people answer! Our family lives in a gated community with a man-made lake where there are turtles, ducks, geese, fish, etc. Well, one of the types of fish is large-mouth bass. And when duckling season comes around, 8 perfectly healthy...

    What to do?

**UPDATE Lulu hatched out of her egg a few hours ago! She is happy and healthy, and is peeping a lot! One issue, her foot looks a little deformed; we will be keeping an eye on it, hopefully, it will go back to normal.
