I have a black sexlink whose comb is turning black The last hen that had this died the next day..... I do not think it is frostbite as I live in the Tucson, AZ and it only gets into the 40's at night. They are in their coop with all open areas covered with canvas. Do you think this...
She has not laid an egg in 5 days. I checked her out last night and she does have an egg in the abdomen. How do you know for sure if they are egg bound? She has never gone for 5 days with no egg. BUT, she is not displaying any symptoms of egg bound other than not laying an egg. What causes this...

I forgot to say... My main concern is my other 6. They all look fine and seem very healthy. Do you think it could have been the egg laying process gone bad and caused some kind of internal problems??

I am mainly looking for excellent layers so I don't really care if they are purebred, mutts or whatever. I just want lots of nice big eggs. Although I would love a roo, I cannot have one because law here says no roos...
