She has not laid an egg in 5 days. I checked her out last night and she does have an egg in the abdomen. How do you know for sure if they are egg bound? She has never gone for 5 days with no egg. BUT, she is not displaying any symptoms of egg bound other than not laying an egg. What causes this anyway?

If she has an egg in her abdomen and not laying it, that's how you know she's eggbound.

Soak her in warm water, while massaging her stomach. Start the massage at her breastbone, and work back towards her tail. You will be trying to help her work an egg out.

If you start to suspect that the egg has broken, you can put on some latex gloves, cover the fingers in olive oil, and try to go in and pull out the peices. This isn't something that most people have the stomach for however.

Good luck, I hope she gets better!
