Here's mom and dad to 16/18 eggos 1 more from another ee hen and the brown one from either the welsummer, barnevelder, or bcm. Since I haven't witnessed someone lay it I'm just not sure since they're all hatchery stock. They are ridiculously cute and pretty photogenic too

The eggs under my broody have all started hatching this morning!!!!!!! 18 eggs 5 are out saw other pipped!!!!!!!

Lucky for us it's been raining buckets the past two days with more to come over the weekend. It didn't come soon enough for the next county over though. My parents condo burnt to the ground along with the rest of Gatliburg so we're just thankful that none if it spread into Greenville...

Thank you for explaining that to me!! I've been so confused about chicken genetics. I'm thinking about picking up a couple of books just so I can understand what all is going on. (The calculator helps a lot too. Bless the souls that made it.)

Thanks for all the input and advice. I'll check #14 again tomorrow when mom is on break just to double check. I'd really hate to get rid of an egg that had a chance (I want to be really sure!) but definitely don't want to risk all the other eggs as a result.

For a bit more information, I discovered her nest in my garden and then moved her the night of the 17th. I stuck an egg layed that same afternoon by an ee just to try and judge how far along all the other eggs are. And here is the egg that seems the farthest along. The egg I'm suspicious about...

Hello! Long time lurker here. Recently had my 1st chicken go broody ( I've only had chickens for 2 years) I candled all the eggs today while mommy was on her "break". I threw out 1 blood ring and 1 clear but then came across this egg and wasn't so sure. I think its a quitter thats gone rotten...
