    Gummy egg yolk?

Two days in a row, one of my girls is laying eggs with a thick yolk. The first time I thought I had not noticed a crack but today I am sure the egg was fine. What could be causing this gummy texture?

What breed, age and gender do I have?

Hi! Can anyone guess what my breed mix my two chicks might be? I was advised they are Easter Eggers (Australian). Do I have two pullets? Any idea on age? The photo with the chicken being held was taken in April by the breeder and I guess around 8 weeks old? They are still quite small birds...

    Splash Austarlorp Pullet or Roo?

Thank you. He was purchased as a pullet but is not as obviously male as my other roos of a different breed. :(

    Splash Austarlorp Pullet or Roo?

This is our first Australorp and I'm unsure of gender. Having searched the forums for answers... I'm still confused 😅 Approx 16-18 weeks old ??

Australian Easter Egger Pullet or Roo?

Hi! I'm a little on the bench about whether my Aussie Easter Egger is a boy or girl? 10 weeks old exactly. Apparently a cross between, Australian Lavendar Araucana, Cream Legbar, Maran and something else 😄 I have had some very obvious boys but this ones back feathers are not so straight...

    Lethargic, one eye looks unusual

Thank you. I was unsure if she had a viral issue but there is no gunk at all and it s neither progressed or reduced. We have a large caged coop 6m x 4m and she has been placed in her own caged area within the coop. She is the head hen. Bossy and big bt now that I think about it, it did happen...

2 months on and Older Hens will not accept new Ones

Hi just an update on my flock. My coop cage is identical to yours and I found my big girls were territorial. I would let them all out on the grass whilst supervised and feed them oats(their fav) near each other. Eventually (it took a couple weeks), I would see them foraging near each other with...

    Lethargic, one eye looks unusual

Hi, I'm hoping for some opinions on what could possibly be wrong with my hen. Presented yesterday with one eye a little extra "open". I dismissed it as she was very much her talky bossy self. Today she is lethargic, sleepy and the eye looks wrong. She is otherwise eating and drinking and staying...

Can an olive egg laying hen lay a blue one?

Its winter here in Australia so the SLW has stopped laying. This blue egg appeared in Autumn... just wondering what surprises I have in store for spring if any?

Can an olive egg laying hen lay a blue one?

I have an hen that lays Olive green eggs. A Silver laced Wyandotte that lays a cream egg and a blue laced wyandotte freeholder. 😉 They are all 9 mths old. A few weeks ago I found a blue coloured egg rather than an olive. Can I safely assume something went wrong with my olive laying hens ink...

2 months on and Older Hens will not accept new Ones

Thanks for everyone's replies. From what I found, the biggest difference came when I let them all out of their yard together to free-range in my yard. At the detriment of my veggie garden 😅 but... all 6 stayed near each other as they explored and that evening... magic 🪄 they all went into coop...

2 months on and Older Hens will not accept new Ones

Hello I know this has been discussed quite often but I am now over the 2 month point and its getting tiring. I have 3 x 9mth old hens. And 3 x 5mth old girls. They were integrated 2 months ago. The 3 older hens will NOT let up and chase the young ones all day. I have separate feeding areas...
