    NEED TO REHOME Southwest MO

Need to find a new home or homes for two male Eurasian collared doves. I hatched them earlier this year. They’re good boys, but aren’t getting along with the rest of the flock (parents and one sibling). I don’t have the adequate space to separate, so it’s in their best interest to find a new...

    Pacing, panting, crying hen HELP

Thank you for your advice, I truly appreciate it. This whole thing took about 8 hours and the poor girl must’ve been so uncomfortable. The calcium I have is calcium carbonate so I’ll try to be better prepared with calcium citrate.

    Pacing, panting, crying hen HELP

I came home and there was an egg! It is shelled and normally formed. Should I still give her more calcium?

    Pacing, panting, crying hen HELP

She was put on daily calcium tabs per the vet, so she’s already had that today. The thing is, she will settle in a nest box for a little while, then come back out and pant, cry, pace, and repeat. She’s been doing this for over 6 hours today. It’s as if this is nesting behavior but it doesn’t...

    Pacing, panting, crying hen HELP

She doesn’t usually act this way though. Normally she’s quiet, docile, and only get excited when it’s time to free range. This behavior is bordering panic and she seems incredibly anxious. Like she needs to lay an egg but hasn’t.

    Pacing, panting, crying hen HELP

My buff Orpington has been on and off antibiotics and metaclopramide for a month now. She initially was cleared by the vet after 2 weeks of sulfatrim, but it recurred and she was put back on meds a week ago. Today she has been in and out of a nest box and generally running around very anxiously...

    Abnormal Poop post Antibiotics??

Fecal at the time was negative (3 weeks ago) She presented with jaundice and the vet could feel an enlarged liver. After antibiotics both symptoms returned to normal. She didn’t lay for the whole period, but has since restarted with 2 shell-less eggs and 4 normal eggs. She is active and...

    Abnormal Poop post Antibiotics??

My 2 year old Orpington recently was on sulfatrim for two weeks due to a suspected liver infection. It’s been a week since her last dose. She has since resumed laying (last egg two days ago). Her poop for the last week has been like this. Black and very liquidy, but still contains urate. Is this...

    Chick Growth Chart, Smaller Breeds

Thanks! She is active and eats/drinks. I worry a little because she’s not quite as active as the others, spends time standing with butt down towards the ground, doesn’t cuddle with the others af night, and is much calmer about being handled than the others. Perhaps it’s a personality thing...

    Mystery illness causing weight loss

I recently had a 2 year old hen that was diagnosed with a reproductive infection. Antibiotics helped but she did decline again after stopping and we went through 3 different episodes of that before she sadly passed away. Necropsy showed she was ravaged with cancer. Possibly a similar situation...

    Chick Growth Chart, Smaller Breeds

Does anyone know the average weight gain a Silver Spangled Hamburg and an Exchequer Leghorn should have? They are much smaller than their same age Cochin chick sibling. Today they are 6 weeks of age. The Hamburg weighed 280g and the leghorn was 270g. To me this seems small, but I have not raised...

Strange Eyes in 6 week old Chick

I think it’s just the lighting in the photos. The way it currently looks is not red, more like a normal pale color.

Strange Eyes in 6 week old Chick

I haven’t noticed her having any sight problems, as far as I can tell she can close them fully. Unfortunately this is the best quality close up I have of her eye, back when she was a few days old. It has definitely become more pronounced since then.

Eye looks stretched or swollen? Birth defect?

Have you been able to figure anything out? I have the same issue also in a 6 week old! Hers are both eyes and she also is eating, drinking, no discharge anywhere
