Hi there! My Orpington roo has had some foot and leg issues for a while now but up until now I haven’t had a clue about what it could be. I’ve had bumble foot suggestions, as well as SLM but looking at some websites I think it might be gout. What’s everyone’s opinion and how would I treat gout ...
Just for future reference, I once accidentally cracked an egg, and used clear nail polish. It worked great and the chick was able to come out safely. Good luck !
I had a broody before who only hatched one chick. We let her raise it and he is doing great. They are also bantams so they have an enclosed run safe from predators. I would leave them with the hen and try to handle them once in a while. Good luck !
I’ve also made a wooden frame with chicken wire stapled on but for keeping the chicks from flying away. I’ve sometimes used a large baby gate to keep my cat out.
Hello there ! Just recently I noticed that my Rooster has some VERY swollen feet. He is an Orpington so his feet are naturally large but I knew this was not normal. He also had a large red bumb on one of his feet that is hot to the touch and squishy. There’s some red streaking going up his foot...
I’ve actually ran into this before, but it has an easy solution. If you have any clear nail polish on you, just brush it lightly over the crack and carefully put the egg back. After checking on it a couple times to make sure it’s dry, you’ll be good to go ! Good luck with your hatch !
