I’m trying to find a good source for BCM that has ratings on the high end of the egg color scale but haven’t found one yet. The hatchery chicks just don’t have that dark chocolate egg from what I’ve heard but I would love to get my hands on one! :)
Hi! My CL rooster is finally grown and has just started fertilizing eggs. He is the only rooster in my bunch so he has all the girls going now.
I’m wanting to breed for egg color, particularly the dark browns, deep olives and strong blues.
What would be good crosses to work towards these...
Yup, it was definitely chipmunk like, I just found a pic of the older one when it was "day old". Not sure which of the 2 chipmunk looking ones it was when little but it was definitely one of these 2
Ya, like I said, they were labeled as wellsummer for the younger one for sure and if I am remembering right, austrolop for the older one although I may not be totally remembering right as I have several breeds but I was questioning that as they grew and even more as they started laying. Nothing...
Thank you! I have 4 other adults, these are my babies I'm just about to start letting free range during the day. They are such cool birds and great on my bugs! Lol
Hi everyone! Thanks for the input so far. I'm knew to chickens over the last year and a half or so so I am still learning a lot.
I thought leghorns laid white eggs? Or is it different for brown leghorns? Both of these chickens lay a light tan colored egg. Both of them are also supposedly...
Hi! I have 2 girls that I don't know the breed of. One is about a year and a half old and the other is about 5 months old. I just can't remember the older ones breed and my kids asked. The younger one was supposed to be a wellsummer but the eggs she's Laying are a light pinkish tan so I'm not...
No, it doesn't jump around. It was above 80 when I had the recommended amount of water in it then came down more and more as I removed more amounts of water. I haven't added any water since the initial amount, only removed and as I removed it dropped but still is at about 50% with absolutely...
I started with the 100ml the directions said but that was way to high so I dumped half out and it was still in the 80%'s so I dumped out enough that I only had 25ml left and that was still in the 60% so right now I have none in there with a dry papertowel in the bottom and it's still at about...
As far as I can tell, the temp has been very stable at that temp with the exception of when I have opened the incubator to turn the one that wasn't in the slide tray.
They are in a turner but it is one that slide back and forth not tilts. I can't think of any vibrations from anything. They are next to the sink but I can't imagine that just running water to wash my hands would vibrate enough. This one was sitting on the outside of the turning tray however...
Hi, My eggs have been in the incubator for 3 days now. I just went to check on them and one has broke open since this morning. I pulled it out but I am guessing I should remove the others and wipe out the incubator real quick since there is white spilled all over the edge? I'm bummed...by...
I didn't know they had to molt...that makes sense. I am using Nutrena Gamebird feed now. It is the only thing available around here outside of chicken feeds so hopefully it has what they need.
