Thanks everyone for the input. You guys are great!
I went to let my chickens out this morning and freaked out when I saw the 2 hens running around outside, but it didn't take long and they were back in on the nest. I think I will add the rest of the eggs into their nest and let them have at it.
I'm not sure what to do. I have 2 Bantam hens that are broody and have been sharing a nest. I had given them a golf ball to see if they would stay on the nest and they stayed there for a week. Well today I took the golf ball out in exchange for 2 regular chicken eggs. I would like for them both...
Thanks for posting this. I have 2 broody bantam hens and I was wondering the same thing. Not sure, I just gave them 2 regular size eggs. Now I can give them the rest that I have.
I'm not sure what kind of incubator you have, mine is out of an old rubbermaid cooler, I drilled a hole in it then placed a screwdriver through the hole so I can make adjustments on my thermostat. Also when you make adjustments in temperature make very suttle turns. If you turn the dial too much...
Have the metal side facing outward and I also drilled holes in my thermostat to allow more air to pass through making it more sensitive. Mine now has about 1 degree variance and I just hatched out 15 chicks.
Here shows you how...
Hope you don't mind me jumping in. I just finished my first time hatch of 15 out of 17 eggs in my homemade incubator. Now I have 5 in the incubator plus 2 first time broody hens trying to hatch 2 eggs and a golf ball. Yes you read that right. They have been trying to hatch a golf ball for weeks...
Thanks everyone for the help. Well everything went well. Had 15 out of 17 hatch, so not too bad for my second time after failing miserably the first time with all dead.

No this one is nothing like that. It is clean legged.
Well here is the gang. Last count 8 and a couple more pipped/zipped. The little Mille Fleur banty is laying in the food dish. So far the only bantam to survive. I had one other Old English hatch but died a few hours later.
I just had a chick hatch and my humidity shot up to 76 in my homemade incubator. I have all the air holes open. Is this normal or do I have to worry about it?? This is my first hatch and I'm so worried of losing them.
Looks good LuvMyBLR
Well it's day 20 for me and this morning I woke up to one egg pipped. So far there has been no more activity since 7 a.m. I sure hope this little one is not s quitter.
I went with what he said and made sure the metal side of the thermostat is facing outward and drilled a hole through my bator for a screwdriver to fit through so I can adjust the temp.
Another thing I added that someone posted on here was I drilled a hole and placed a hose through it so later...
