We got these babies last Wed. when they were about 3 days old by my best guess. Today they must be about 9 days old. Two of them are already roosting on the little stick I put in the brooder yesterday.

Well.......I think it's the cats. what you need to do is go over to the owners and ask if they will control there cats.
P.s. This is not chickmano, it is her daughter chicky:)
I like that logic. We went shopping today for better reinforcement supplies and .22 ammunition. The men of the house are ready to do the job, sans moi. I will be supporting them from a distance, knowing it needs to be done but not happy about it.
Thanks, everyone. Game cam caught that fat raccoon inside the run again last night. Fortunately I had really sealed up the coops after the chickens went to bed so everyone survived the prowler. I like the hot wire suggestion...and maybe the gun if my husband or someone else wants to try it...
Other seasonal designs available including 5 Christmas card designs. Please send PM for more information.
Thanks!

This was unusual and I'm wondering if it could have something to do with the amount of time my hens spent ransacking the strawberry patch yesterday. Our egg count has also been down lately, though...about 4 out of 7 for the last week or more. Any thoughts?
We have 7 hens, all about a year and a half old and we've had them about a year or a little less. We lost one right away ( we started with 8) to our own dogs, but haven't lost anymore since this time last year. Our hens free range all day just about everyday. We lock them in at night and let...
Ours were in the run (covered with a tarp) for a long time last winter when we had a lot of snow. We opened the door to let them out, but they hated walking in the snow. I think they would have been miserable without the run during that time.
Do you have other chickens already in your coop? Our chicks are 6 weeks old and we've had them outside now for 2 weeks with a heat lamp. They're in their own coop away from the adult hens and we let them out together under supervision for a little while each day. We're hoping to have them all...
