    Very unwell Silkie

No actually it's quite black still, I'm now concerned I've done her harm trying to give her water via the syringe!

    Very unwell Silkie

Thanks so much for your help. I've offered her up some scrambled eggs! I don't have marmite in the house unfortunately. I'll grab some tomorrow. I fear she's not going to make it as her breathing has become laboured... This is the downside to chickens and I worry and get sad every single time!

    Very unwell Silkie

Thanks so much I'll start now. I just hope she gets her appetite back soon to regain strength. She is also breathing rather heavily, no rattling, coughing wheezing... Just with her mouth open? Can anaemia affect respiration/intake of oxygen?

    Very unwell Silkie

Hello everyone. I have a white Bantam Silkie Hen who was looking unwell a few weeks back but then perked up again. At the beginning of this week she went down again, I took her to the vet who looked her over and suggested coccidiosis and gave me a course of antibiotics. I began treating her five...

Rescued stray, but what for art thou??

Haha!! Love it! Oh well, he is a rather sexy beast. I love cockerels and crowing so it's fine with me, my neighbours on the other hand may be a tad upset with my fifth cock! My hybrids can have a strapping young buck with them so it'll be fine. I'm too soft, I wouldn't want him to go now I've...

Rescued stray, but what for art thou??

Our neighbourhood acquired a stray and a neighbour of mine who hates noise, and knowing I kept chickens, asked me to save him from her panicked clucking around his garden and so asked me to try and nab her. After a week and a half I finally decided to get her at night while she was sleepy and...

    Sleepy, sad Silkie Hen

Hello everyone! I have 3 white bantam silkies. One of the hens has been quite sleepy the past few days, she hunches over and hangs her head and tail, making herself extra fluffed up. I checked near her ear area as I read thy can get mites, her legs again look fine as well as at the base of her...

    Hello Everyone!

Hello! Many thanks for your advice, much appreciated. I do intend to breed with the bantams and silkies. It probably would be a good idea to get a few more hens in my little groups so the ratio is better. I also love Cockerel crows! I find my hens cuddle up to them and use them as a safety...
