She could have very well gotten it from us but I’m not clear on how it’s transferred. They don’t interact with my outside hens, and they live inside in a clean brooder.
My new concern is, she lives in a brooder with two other chicks, 6 weeks old, that came from a real hatchery, (they were...
If she could acquire the use of at least one leg I could keep her. But I don’t have the time or energy for a special needs chicken, and I’m afraid her quality of life would be sub-par because of it. Fingers crossed she starts improving soon!
She had a respiratory infection, runny nose, listless, puffed out, from week 3-5 that was treated with some antibiotics so the sitting seemed normal. Then she recovered from the RI and continued the sitting. I’ve looked at vit E deficiency but it hasn’t seemed like a good fit, I’m certainly...
This is all I have. She very rarely will walk, and if she does she has a bit of a time balancing, not enough to put her wings out to steady herself, but enough to seem unsure of how to walk...if that makes sense.
I have a 10 week Easter Egger chick, she’s been battling leg issues since week 3. She’s eating, drinking, gaining weight, normal poop, and has a lot of spunk, she just doesn’t stand for long periods. She’ll make the short trek for food and water, but she’s always sitting otherwise. Will stand to...
She’s in a brooder with two other chicks that have been vaccinated for Mareks. They’ve been in the same brooder with the EE for weeks, without showing symptoms as far as I can tell. Is it possible to integrate the vaccinated chicks into my existing flock when they’re old enough without risk of...
I took a few photos, she doesn’t walk much, even when I pick her up and set her down, she will just sit back down. Her legs seem fine, no twists or swollen joints, no Bumblefoot as far as I could tell. If she does walk shes a bit unsteady and for short bursts.
I have this 2 month old pullet, Easter Egger. She was fine at two weeks old but ever since week three she’s been sitting/leaning a lot. She’ll stand and walk to the feeder or waterer, but will then sit to eat or drink. Her appetite and thirst are still the same, and she is gaining weight...
Hi! I just saw this! Yes, she is doing fantastic and is much happier. She moved into the new coop, and is head of the flock, and in the last few weeks started to lay eggs! I attached a photo of her free ranging the garden with her sisters!! :)
Hi, I recently bought a couple chicks, they’re about 4 weeks old, one of which is a Silkie. The Silkie I noticed today having one eye shut and the other was bubbly and swollen. After a quick warm water q-tip massage the she reopened her eye and it too is bubbly. She seems to be a little...
I have two australorps that I got as chicks from TSC. At first we thought it was just one rooster, but as they got bigger I’ve realized I might have two one my hands. Benny (pictured below) is our definite rooster. But Denver goes back and forth depending on the week, her comb and wattles are...
Hi! I’m in the Atlanta area and I need to rehome one of my two australorp roosters! They’re pretty young still (19wks) but I know they’re both roosters and I can only have one in my county.
Pics are attached.
If you or anyone you know could use a friendly, dilligent rooster, let me know!
Yes! She’s got serious ’tude. Always pecks at me before I pick her up, and never wants to roost. I’ve read that broody hens can loose their place in the pecking order and I’m wondering if that’s what caused her to get bullied by her old flock. My other hens aren’t laying yet so I have no...
