They are only ten weeks old, a little too young to be showing but I did pretty well and got lots of compliments on them at my local county fair. I showed clean legged cockrel and clean legged poulet with my one roo and two hen white leghorns. Its very hard to keep white birds white! had to give...
I'm only showing my cockrel and two pullets but after i washed the first one i couldn't let just a few of them look that bad:P, it just wouldn't be fair. They are very white an fluffy now so no worries.
I have figured out it is a blr mixed with a black laced i think. but i'm still not sure if its a boy or girl its about 10 weeks old and no crowing yet but neither is my white leg horn roo that is also 10 weeks old. please help?
I have hatched and raised chickens from eggs into very healthy pullets and a rooster. I just ordered a dozen Georgia giant bobwhite quail. I have a pretty nice incubator i got from my county extension office it turns the eggs and has the temp and humidity gauge. What are the differences or...
I know it is a wyandotte but thinking it might be a blue laced red mixed with a gold laced. I also have no idea on the gender cause wyandotts don't have a large comb like my leghorn so i don't know how to tell what it is. Thanks in advance.
its somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 to 8 weeks old i think. and i was hoping it was a hen but it is very gentle and doesn't fight with my leghorn rooster even though all my birds are only 7 weeks old so i don't know if they would even fight yet.
I bought this little girl at a local swap and the man i bought it from said it was a cross of some wyandotts. Its very sweet and unlike my leg horns will let me hold her. Any guesses on what she is. I was thinking she might be a blue laced red?
I am still very new to this and I want to show my chickens off to the world. So i found out that there is a pulltry show coming up in two weeks at my local county fair. My chickens have had humble beginnings they are just regular white leghorns that my mom hatched as a class project for a class...
I have 5 white leghorns (1 rooster and 4 hens) and am am going to get two more hens and i am thinking of getting some rhoad island reds is there any recognized crosses made from these two breeds? and if so does anyone know what they are like as far as looks temperment and egg production?
i was thinking about getting rhoad island reds since they are very easy to get and are pretty good layers and are hardy and a nostalgic breed. but my other choices would be a red sex link, a barred rock, or an austrathorp?
I have 1 white leghorn rooster and 4 leghorn hens as well. I have been cleared to get 2 more hens by my mother who makes all our family decisions I was wondering what breeds would be good to introduce into my flock. I am a very newby chicken person, but i know i want some that lay brown eggs...
I've found the awesome world of raising chickens. I got started through my mom's school where her class hatched eggs given to us by our local county extension office. They are 6 weeks old now and my small but growing flock of 4 hens and 1 rooster white leghorns is thriving and quickly becoming...
