Tapeworm - here is what I did.

It probably is, but I was looking for something with the shortest possible egg withdrawal period.

Tapeworm - here is what I did.

From my research I found that there are apparently two major types of Tapeworm. I large type that can grow about a ft and a dwarf type. There are two drugs used to treat for Tapeworm Praziquantel and Albendazole I used the Praziquantel Tape Worm Tabs for dogs, 34mg. You also get them for...

    Are these tape worms??? Picture

THank you. Do you happen to know if it is the large or dwarf tape worm? I have been reading up regarding what people have advised to use and also found some additional info but now I don't know if I should treat with Albendazole or Praziquantel. Can anyone with experience in treating them...

    Are these tape worms??? Picture

I found this picture on line and it is exactly like the larva/eggs I am seeing in one of my chickens poop. Before I start to treat I would like to be sure what they are? They move and the "head portion" changes to become like a round ball as can be seen in the picture.

Tape Worm Larvae/Eggs in my compost!!!

I have been composting my chicken poop and have added the poop from one of my chickens that I just learned has Tape Worm! My compost does not get super hot. Will they survive and be able to re-infect? What do I do?

Safeguard for Tapeworms does it work?

Thanks for all the info. I do have a follow-up question though, why do I need to withhold feed for 24 hrs when I am administering the dosage undiluted orally?

Safeguard for Tapeworms does it work?

I have been reading about Safeguard for Tapeworms can one only use the dewormer for goats? I only have three chickens and it is quite a large bottle. How about the safeguard for dogs or cats, could I use that? How often do I need to retreat? What is the dosage? I appears that only one hen...

    Fly eggs or worms?

I recently noticed small, white, worm shaped things wiggling in one of my hens poop. I have only notice this twice. I scoop the coop and run at least twice a day (I only have 3 hens, so not so much poop). Could these be fly eggs hatching? They are about 1/4 inch or less in length. If these are...

My sister has two chickens that have the "wart" growths under the lower rim of the eye. One is a mature hen, the other a 1 month old chick. Please can anyone tell me what is this and how does she treat it?

    Jennys Small Suburban Coop Ex

When the hens were old enough to start laying we added another section to the coop to house their nesting box and extend the coop size at the same time. This also increased the amount of space under the coop- their run.

Keeping the chickens warmer in the run...

You could put some straw in there. The love to rumage through it and pick out the seeds, plus straw is very warm. I put straw in my coop and a section of my run that is under their coop. In the winter they will bed down in the straw in the coop rather that sitting on the roost.

Can two hens be left to hatch together?

Thanks guys for the responses. Yes, that is what I am afraid of, that they will kill each others chicks! I really don't want to risk that!
