    Please help, chicks keep dying

You could -- but they will most likely deny it - or they may be unaware of it. The same thing happened to me and the really sad thing is once you have coccdi introduced to your ground it stays there. My best advice would be to either get rid of the chicks. Do not let them on your ground or in a...

    Please help, chicks keep dying

They have coccidiosus. Red tinged poo has blood in it, caused by coccidi, which is a intestinal disease for birds. It is contagious, so keep them separate from other birds. Go to TSC and get Corrid powder. It is in white bag with red lettering. It does not say anything about using it for chickens...

The Heritage Rhode Island Red Site

I am interested in the heritage red, as a effort to preserve them. However, being a foster parent to traumatized children, and a parent to 7 biological children, we do not have time to show birds. But I am willing to let someone choose a bird from my flock to show it and tell the world about the...

Is this a Rhode Island Red chick, or sex linked?

Yes, those chicks are mixed. I have a rir roo over slw and the chicks look exactly like that. The roos will be white with a black spot on thier head. The hens will be a rusty black mixed fuzz.

JANUARY ...OUR FIRST HATCHING OF 2013 ANYONE? come join!!

Do not worry to bad about a pip at the wrong end. I have chicks that hatch out backwards and they are usually fine. I only ever had to help one -- but they must have zipped before you attempt to help them out of the shell. The chick I helped was to big to squeeze out backwards. every time I saw...

    breeding for a rhodebar chicken

Oh - did you think I wouldn't like a challenge !? It will take me years, but you see - we have 4 boys and some have a real intrest in breeding birds and so do I. This is a good way for a parent to work with a child - on a project. So, yes I'll read till my eyes are sore and pull up my sleeves...

    sex-link chicks

I used a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte rooster over Rhode Island Red hens. Would the chicks be considered sex-linked or not. I've been reading on this subject, and till I get done I'm totally confused !! I also have a Rhode Island red roo over SLW. This will for sure make a sex-link -- right...

I have a chicken that is about 1.5 years old and she started sneezing Mon. I quarentined her as I am curious as to what struck her. She is also limping. She has no fever, her eyes are clear and there is no drainage from her nose just a sneeze and cough, with rattling breathing every now and...
