    Adventures in Incubating Shipped Eggs

I feel you on the patience issue. My goslings were the slowest hatchers I have ever heard of. The younger on hatched right around day 40.

:loveI love how wide of a variety there is on this post. Getting to see all kinds of cute babies.

    What's the dark truth?

Ideal does use them as packing peanuts (they offer the option to skip that, of course).

    Goslings

I just wanted to share my adorable little baby geese. They're either buff dewlap toulouse, buff americans, or a mix. (There was definitely a dewlap toulouse using in that nest, according to the seller) They were incubated in the single most ridiculous DIY incubator ever (I felt silly putting...

    What's the dark truth?

I don't work in a hatchery, but I've seen videos of them....it looks like it's a faster death than CD, honestly, since the machine moves faster than human hands do. It's gross, but at least it's really quick.

    What's the dark truth?

The grinding is actually more humane than it sounds. It isn't pretty, obviously, but it would be an instant death for something so small, since the parts move so fast.

The one with it's mouth closed is the second one (egg 5 baby)

    Adventures in Incubating Shipped Eggs

I had a 50% hatch rate in an absolutely ridiculous looking DIY incubator, but one had to be culled after 2 days. So 2 healthy goslings out of 6 eggs. Not bad really. Especially since goose eggs are apparently really difficult to incubate, even without the shipping factor. It was a heck of...

I may have to rename Nugget "Marlinspike".

    Adventures in Incubating Shipped Eggs

I'm getting the feeling Nugget (egg 6 baby) is a boy. It's a lot more.....well....naughty than egg 5 baby lol. It freaked out and threw itself up onto my shoulder while I was holding it. Cuddled so sweetly and peeped stories into my ear......or so I thought. Turns out, it was practicing its...

    2018 Hatchalong

For sure. I feel like the older of the remaining two is a boy. It's just so noisy and silly compared to the other one haha.

    2018 Hatchalong

After 2 days of just laying on its side with its eyes closed, hardly moving, it started gasping for breath and liquid was coming out of its nostrils. Part of me had been hoping it was just more tired after hatching than the other two had been (I has it separate so it wouldn't be stepped on)...

    12/13 is really good, though.
