Wheezing/Breathing Weird! Help ASAP please! Something stuck in throat/nose possibly?

So, what happened? I hope it all ended well. But I gotta say, I've been looking for an answer to the same situation, and it's disappointing when people ask for help, get help, and never post again with the outcome.

    Will ducks eat ants?

I read elsewhere on the net that some types of ducks will eat ants. I had hoped my chickens would, but they seem completely uninterested; they don't even notice ants. If ducks will eat them, that might finally be enough to convince my DH that we need ducks! Any advice will be appreciated.

    Hen lost her tail

Someone told me foxes can climb wire fences, even 6-foot-tall ones. True?

    Hen lost her tail

I would appreciate advice from someone familiar with how predators attack. Something pulled the tail off one of my hens recently; all her tail feathers were gone and there was a some blood, but she didn't seem hurt otherwise, and is acting normal 2 days later. My rooster is very protective...

    Colorado

My run isn't covered except by wires I ran back and forth and attached old CD's to. Some people believe that scares the hawks away, and it's worked for me for 9 mos. so far. The wires are 3 or 4 feet apart. I see hawks go over every day. My rooster GROWLS at them! Really! When he does...

    Colorado

Hi everyone. I haven't posted for quite a while, but thought I'd get back on, so I could encourage anyone who's trying to decide whether to get chickens. I bought half of an EXISTING flock of Easter Eggers last year, and they have been great. I got 1 rooster, 4 babies (2 boys, 2 girls), and...

    bare patch on back

I was looking for info on the same problem, and ran across this (old) thread. Did anyone figure out how to deal with this successfully?

    Predator deterrent/dogs in general?

An amusing story: we adopted a shelter dog recently -- a breed mix that is recommended for being around chickens. Well, she got in the chicken yard (ironically, while DH and I were making our gate more predator-proof), and chased the birds for a couple seconds, even got a mouthful of tail...

    Cookie Tin water heater

Good grief, folks. Why not spend the $30 and get something that is safe and has a thermostat (see my post above)? I'm the world's biggest cheapskate, but even I won't risk endangering my animals or property to save $30.

    Cookie Tin water heater

I got a nice de-icer recently that only keeps the water from freezing but doesn't heat it up. It's submersible, and you CAN use it in plastic buckets--I checked. It's called a bird bath deicer, but it's perfect for my plastic bucket with chicken nipples. It runs around $29. Got mine on sale...

I know! He'll probably think I'm kidding, and won't believe me. I hope I don't get any visitors until the lipstick wears off; they'll think the poor girls are bleeding. This better work.. otherwise, I might as well go on a snipe hunt.

    Floor Ideas?

I finally succeeded in my quest to find a coop floor liner for cheap or free! A friend suggested using those huge Tyvek "tarps" that cover lumber when it's being shipped. The local lumberyard was happy to give me a few. I picked out the biggest one with the fewest tears, repaired the tears...
