Well then mystery unsolved:lau the chicken is question started squatting for my husband (the treat guy) but will not squat for me! Oh no haha I guess only time will tell! Thanks everyone for following up on this post:love
Alright everyone I think that we have finally figured out the mystery!! I have incubated the eggs and there was no development.
And even though our tiny 7 month old Buff hasn’t laid yet, she finally squatted for us today and I’ve heard that roos do not squat!
Does that’s solve it???:fl
I’m...
I’m SO sorry everyone! We had been on vacation and then I had some problems with the incubator.
After about 6 days though,
there wasn’t any growth in the eggs. Then again, there was some incubator trouble so I’m going to try again now that we’re back home!
HOWEVER, we are starting to really...
Okay so we kept the egg in the fridge to eventually cook up but I had to take another picture for all the non believers of my Virgin Mary chicken:gig
Maybe this picture will help show it more clearly. And for the people saying that all eggs have that same mark, I cracked store bought eggs to...
This is our backyard, it’s completely closed in and there’s no way a roo jumped over with our neighbor’s dogs on both sides. Plus we are not in a farm area at all, it’s San Diego so we’re one of the only neighbors with chickens. Our buff hasn’t laid any eggs yet (they’re 6 months) but she has...
:lau:gig:lau
You all have me cracking up!
Here is a picture of our ladies (maybe just lady:barnie)
If our Buff Orpington is a roo, he/she has NEVER made a peep and has shown no roster behaviors. But she hasn’t laid yet...
We’ve raised them since they were hatchlings and there are no chickens near! Plus our yard is completely enclosed. We live in San Diego so chickens aren’t really a big thing down here. But it’s supeer strange, I guess I’ll try to hatch some and see if anything comes of it!
Haha too funny but...
But we only have two hens in an enclosed yard...however, our smaller hen hasn’t started laying yet but we would know if she was a roo. So confused!:idunno
Hi everyone,
Is this egg fertile? We’ve raised chickens before and had some that we ended up hatching so I know about the “bullseye” on fertile eggs. We only have two hens now that just started laying and I swear that this egg has the fertile halo around it! Input please :)
I was wondering your opinions on letting your chickens be free ranged or keeping them in an enclosed run.
I’ve heard that free ranged keeps them quieter because they have more to do but also that an enclosed run makes them quieter because they feel safer. Is one better than the other?
Any...
hi everyone,
We’ve had multiple flocks of chickens and we’ve always raised them since they were chicks. We always have introduced them to the dogs and cat and it’s never been a problem. Our newest chickens are completely fine with people and they’ve kind of just ignored the other animals (the...
Hi everyone! Thank you SO much for your responses! Sorry for not responding sooner. Anyways, I have added some photos of their coop (ignore the mess, we just got back from vacation). But we have a buff Orpington and a light Brahma. They go to the run on their own every night and they have a...
Hi everyone,
So our chickens won’t sleep in the coop but will stay in the run. We do not have any mites so my idea is that the door is too small for them (it is about 8inx8in). My fiancé doesn’t think that’s why but I think that they don’t like the possibility of being trapped. Has anyone had...
