Hmmm, maybe I should update this thing. Or maybe I should put in chronological order which would make it harder for the very few people that used to read catch up if I do update it.

Although four square feet might be the rule of thumb I would try to visualize 24 chickens in a 9' X 16' space. Personally, I would go with fewer chickens. It could get pretty crowded.
Add in the run and I would be OK with 24 chickens in the coop and run combined?

A .22 long rifle is a good choice. You gain little with a .22 magnum and the ammo costs are much higher. Keep in mind that the solid lead bullets of a .22 will ricochet, and the bullets will go a over a mile if shot into the air.
