He really is super cute, i got him a friend yesterday another duckling the same age but he's not interested at all, he just wants to be around me constantly, it melts my heart, bless him :)
Aww how exciting!! what day are you on with your eggs now? sounds like you will have new babies very soon...
Thank you for the information...they were listed as pure white and then this little guy happened :)
I need to google snowy's now to get an idea of how he will turn out, we love him to bits regardless.
And yes he's getting extra niacin in his water....100mg per gallon, is that right?
Hi,
I've just hatched a call duck that was meant to be pure white, but that is definitely not the case...does anyone know what colour/pattern this baby will be?
I'm totally new to all this so haven't a clue lol.
Sadly one of the ducklings didn't make it and died in the egg, so i felt the need to assist the other before it suffered the same fate...he/she is doing great and is now 2 days old....i'm going out today to find another duckling to put with mine as i know they don't do well alone.
The other...
thank you, they have both internally pipped now so fingers crossed....these 2 are the only ones out of 12 that survived the postal system, so i'm really pinning my hopes on these little ones.
I have 2 call duck eggs incubating and just entering day 27, they are still moving but none have internally pipped yet.
One little guy has been pushing on the membrane for at least 2 days but the air cell seems to be quite floppy if that's the right way to describe it...any advice please?
So sorry to hear that DKfarms...hatching really is a heartwarming but at the same time heartbreaking thing.
Crazy Lady 2...we have 3 happy healthy ducklings out of 4 eggs...the 4th never pipped but was still alive and wiggling few hours before i candled so i feel really bad that i didn't...
I have 3 out of 4 eggs that have hatched, the 4th has sadly died in the shell, the last one hatched about an hour ago....my question is, do i now need to removed all water from the incubator to allow them to dry off properly?
I've just done that and put it back in the incubator, the poor baby can't even lift it's head itself...will it dry out being in the humid incubator? or should i move it to the brooder under the lamp?
My first baby hatched a few hours ago but is still attached to the shell by what i think is the umbilicus, the poor little thing is just layed there sleepy and occasionally tries to free itself...what can i do to help please?
I'm scared we're going to lose this baby, it seems very weak :(
Thank you so much, that was really helpful :)
According to that link i shouldn't have too much to worry about with this baby...i just need to keep an eye on it.
