Doesn’t look like I can get any of those over the counter here in the UK so that would be a very visit I think.
Would eye drips containing Chloramphenicol be sufficient? It’s a broad spectrum antibiotic I’ve used on rescues before with success but unsure if it’s the best option for an infection...
Brilliant reply, I will call you my local vets and request one of the above antibiotics.
Upon further inspection I would agree that the eyeball has been punctured, would this heal over or is the eye ball likely to dry up?
Many thanks!
I have taken on a flock of rescues from someone who was unable to care for them.
This poor hen has a nasty eye injury, I can’t see and intact eye ball and the previous owner seems to think it started from a slight scratch and got out of hand... it looks like a very badly damaged eye ball which...
I have very large fowl hens running with my bantams (silkies, polands and other bantams) I believe it depends on how much space you give them! mine free range so the little ones can get away if they need too :) as for seramas my cockerel is a serama and is the boss of all my large fowl (even...
thanks for that! :) as for the egg laying nothing as of yet!! but maybe that's due to the cold weather or moult.. what do you think? should they lay though winter? i've heard people call them black rocks over here so I think your right ! I've only ever kept show breeds and bantams before so...
Rescued these hens from someone who did not know how to look after them, they are not in very good condition but i'm wondering if anyone knows what breed they are? I have been told that the brown ones are columbian black tails? (I'm in the UK if that is any help) thanks !

The relationship we have with our neighbour is.. Civil lol
No complaints about the hens (there are only four and their egg songs never last more than ten mins although they are loud!)
Our neighbour approached us about our LF cockerel who we soon re-homed.. Would they be on the same level of noise as a cockerel?
Appreciate all the feedback!
