Oh..I've assumed since they are protein they would be essential to birds. So this is offered about 4 x a week
We have 4 birds so looking at the amt I put out I'd say they get about two tbsp each
They get all the free flowing egg layers feed they want. Then the scratch is put down on the ground for them in the run. So the majority of what they eat is the layers feed. I assumed the mealworms were healthy because the feed store sells them.
Thank you. So the layers feed I'm using is Horizon and the protein is 16%. We provide mealworms mostly daily but I don't know how much to provide per bird to make it up to 18% daily for them
They are almost 21 weeks old so haven't started laying yet.
Looking for the perfect diet for the time...
Should we switch to all flock feed in the colder months or stay on layers feed/ provide extra light in the coop to encourage laying? Hens are 21w old and haven't started to lay yet
Thanks! Yes they are fun. Hilarious to watch as they are so inquisitive and each has a different personality.
I have been laughing at how when I let them out of the run to be in our yard, they jubulantly fly out like little kids going to the playground and they all run up to the back deck. We...
I am wondering when willy Black Polish Roo begin to know he is a roo and start to want to sew his oats? We are planning to sell him before this gets to that point as we only want eggs to consume not produce more birds? They are 15 weeks this coming Monday. Today is Aug 18th., Friday.

Are you saying they do not lay at all in the winter? Also the bag recommends starting layers feed at 15 weeks but then I know there's a rooster in this flock as we have heard the crowing so how would I make sure that the roo gets the right feed? I think I'll just take ya'lls advice and just...
How can you feed the layers feed to your flock when you don't know if they are hens or roos? I read it's not healthy to feed the layers feed to roos so....
I'm confused about this.
Thank you
We are mom and dad to 6 Tophats and new to this as of the middle of May when they hatched from the hatchery and we brought them home on day 2.
They are not sexed of course so we are not sure what we have yet. They are now 10 weeks out and so hilarious, fun, entertaining and just plain fun❤️...
