I like some of the ideas shared here but was also wanting to plant a vine that smelled great! I love honeysuckle and star jasmine. Both do well in the hot Calif sun. Will they be ok for the girls? Any other vine that smells good but won't make them sick?
ckbco: He was suppose to be a Cuckoo Maran Pullet. He's a sturdy strong little guy. I'll post to the Northern California area later to see if anyone wants him for breeding, not eating. I am firm about that. We don't eat pets with names. He went from Mildred to Mervyn Maran!!
Thanks...
I got them as day old chicks maybe 5 weeks ago? Maybe a little longer. I'm so bummed because I need new pullets and I thought I'd get two to keep each other company when I add them to my 6 other ladies. I love my girls but we can't keep roo's here and I don't want to see him killed. And...
I just picked up what I thought were two Cuckoo Maran chicks. One is very different than the other. From these pics can anyone tell me if the one with the red comb is a roo?
Thanks, I'll find out who's doin it and try the separation. The only way she'll stop is for me to be out the the moment the run rises or that sick noise will wake the dead!! Thanks for the comments!! At least I know it falls in somewhat of a normal occurrence!!
I have one Polish, an Americana, 1 Auracuana, a Buff Orphington and two reds. My Austrulop (?) just passed away and I don't know why. She was fine one day then quit eating. She has no sores or injuries, no sign of illness or disease. She was three. Made me sad. I'm sitting outside with them...
East Bay here!! Love my girls and have to say they're pretty spoiled. They come when they're called (especially if I have a red bag of 'wormies"!! The reds love to jump in my lap. They live a pretty spoiled life but that's OK.....they're my girls!!
I have had my girls for 3 years. Recently my bossy hen passed away. Everyone was mellow until a couple days ago. I'm up at 5:30 and even before the sun rose I hear the most gawd awful sound, enough to wake the dead! I looked at my husband and said what the heck was that?!! Again this raspy...
I'm glad to hear Bombie is doing better today. Marshmellow is still up in her nesting box, it's below freezing here (Northern California has been in a cold snap for over a week) so I think she and a few other chickens are "staying in bed" while longer. But, after reading your post along with...
I just read all your problems with your chicken. Walked outside today to my coop and my 9 month old Easter Egg chicken is listless and every time she puts her head down, she raises it back up like she's swallowing water. My cousin has chickens so she had me check the crop. It too was squishy...
