After some advice
Have hatched plenty of chicks before but this egg is being very stubborn! The chick has pipped, I can see the beak but there has been no progress over at least 48-72 hours. BUT there is still blood in the membrane. I’m guessing it’s a waiting game but just wanted to know if...
Ok thanks for the help guys :) will try it out. One question though, should I still be applying the scaly leg product while dipping them in the oil? Or should I spray them first and then dip them?
Thanks
Hi all,
For the last few months I have been struggling to deal with an on going problem of scaly leg in all my chickens, some have it worse than others but it doesn't seem to want to budge!
I have tried my best to spray them with scaly leg spray every 5-6 days (as instructed on spray...
Hi I've brought my silkie in last week hoping if she got some rest get leg may heal but so far no difference.
She seems to want to stretch her leg out (as seen in photo)
Ps her wing isn't damaged, just looks that way as she stretched it out when I took the photo
Hello all, I have a mixture of hens from my flock of around 50 that will not stop being broody. Pekins, sussex, orpingtons are the main birds that try it. I constantly move them every day when I collect the eggs but the next day back again.
I have even tried putting ice cubes underneath them...
Hello all,
Apologies if this is the wrong thread but I have a question about humainely killing two cockerels.
The problem I have with them is that they are way too aggressive to the hens.
I have had to cull a hen before as she was too ill to get better, I tried pulling its neck which wasn't...
Thanks the post was helpful, I think il try the handling approach, they are very tame as ive had them from chicks and to be honest polish cant see all that well anyway :p
Hello Everyone,
I have 10 polands (7 hens and 3 cockerels) and im having problems with them attacking my partner. When I go to let them out the cockerels rush out first. They used to attack all the time but after a few kicks they have settled down, but they still persist. My partner on the...
*update* Ive moved the 3 that hatched under my silkie, who coincidently had chicks due on a similar date to the jerseys but only hatched one so ive put them under her. But just checked the eggs and there is another pip :) a lot smaller than the others though
Well the three that had pipped have hatched :D I will get some pictures on later today, but as far as I can see no other pips (I had them lined up do I could peer through the glass, but they've played pinball with all the eggs haha). Should I leave the other eggs in for today, it is the start of...
Do Jerseys tend to hatch later? Im at the end of day 21 atm and no pips or hatches. I candled them on day 17 and im sure 6 out of the eight were fertile (wasn't sure on the other two). Thanks.
Only a week till my JGs hatch! YEY! Never had them before.
How do I tell what colour they are? I set half a dozen black and the other half were blue splash. Oh and will the bottoms of their feet still be (should be) yellow?
Thanks
