I've had ducks for about 5 years. Lots of fun and laughs. We'll for the first time ever one of my girls have been wondering off. After following her I found a nest at the time there was 5 eggs. All my ducks are free range during the day. All my ducks are female. If these eggs she's nesting...
I have had 3 Cayuga's. 2 died and I have one original one left, she is 2 years old. This spring I ordered 3 of the KC hybrids and another Cayuga. The KC should just about be getting ready to lay their first eggs. Personalities are different. Cayuga' seem much more relaxed....it could be that...
Okay different theory here. How old is the duckling now? I recently got a shipment of 4 ducklings. 1 Cayuga and 3 Khaki Campbell's. They came as day olds. The Cayuga was significantly smaller then the Khaki's. My husband tells me that the Cayuga's are typically larger breed than the Khaki...
No I don't think they are getting hidden as at one time they were and I'd see them go under a bush or the like. We watch them all the time. The one that died last week was laying for about a week. They were the same age.

I've got a duck that hasn't started to lay yet. Last year she started up...
Question to all. I have ducks. This is the second year we own them. Last year they stopped laying in November. This year in October. I have forced lighting that comes on at 4 pm and goes off at 7:30 am. Same as last year.
My question is that I was talking to someone and they said that...
I have and only have Cayuga. I love them. They are relatively quite with personality. Easy to take care of and of course are beautiful. Any specific questions?

Just posing a question that I'm curious about.
How do different duck breeds adjust to and accept other duck breeds?
Is it better or worse when they are ducklings or full grown?

I don't have chickens so don't know about mixing them. I have two Cayuga's. They are sweet very different personalities. Do a lot of holding early on so they don't mind being touched.
I have a kiddie pool with a drain and pipe that works well if your not getting too many. This way I don't...
