Something ate one of my coturnix hens.

Hh that's weird I've seen them eat there own eggs but not each other there were several eggs and the feeder was full. I gues they wanted some meat.

Something ate one of my coturnix hens.

Well the cage is 3' X5' and the hen was almost completely in the middle. I have never seen or caught any rats around here bur I guess it is possible.

Something ate one of my coturnix hens.

I just went out to check my quail and one of my 8 coturnix quail was dead. there was a quarter size hole right up the bum and all of the guts were gone. I have been having mice in my chicken feed but they were just field mice. The cage is about 5 feet off the ground and at least 2.5 feet away...

how do you switch watering systems

I had switched two male cots to a wire cage and I had to have a rabbit waterer and they started using it right away.

    Quail Housing

If you are not going to breed them then you will not need a male. That enclosure will be really big for only 5 females. If you are just wanting eggs then I would suggest coturnix quail.

Darn its hard to be patient when waiting on eggs

If I had an incubator like that i would try to order from several breeders and pick the one with the best eggs and birds and the best service/price.

Darn its hard to be patient when waiting on eggs

Quote: Ya that's ok, I am not needing them. I have about ten rosettas, italians, and a tuxedo that are about to start laying to keep me busy.

Darn its hard to be patient when waiting on eggs

Yes i am pretty anxious too. I ordered 24 jumbo cots eggs and 12 blue breasted buttons eggs. It's been two weeks, but i think the buttons are the cause. I should have told her to send them separately as they became available.

how to remove the leftover quils from plucking?

We just pluckled a turkey and we didn't pluck it right so there are like 70 leftover quill tops in the skin. How should i remove them. I was doing it with a needle nose pliers and its hard work is there any other way.
