Chickens not laying since moving to tractor

By what? A snake or other critter? It quite possibly could be, we've got plenty of those things around here....but wouldn't I see some kind of scuff or marks where they would enter? I've not had that problem yet (snakes eating eggs) but that really could be it..

Chickens not laying since moving to tractor

Thanks for the replies...I'm going to put a thermometer in the tractor and start measuring that. I don't necessarily think it's the move...though I agree that they are very temperamental, it's been almost two months and they're not producing, that seems too long for an environmental change...

Chickens not laying since moving to tractor

Hello all. We're running two chicken tractors and one standard (8x8 house). We moved five RIR's into one tractor June-1 and two RIR's into another tractor the same day. The other 15 RIR's are in the house & yard. All of the chickens are two years old and they all get the same food. The...

    Growing fodder for chickens

Arielle:I was talking about the runoff from the fodder...not household grey water. I would imagine that household runoff would be fine for non-edibles, but I'm talking something different. I have 10 trays running at once, and I'd love to capture the water after the trays have been watered and...

    Growing fodder for chickens

Does anyone know what the ph, ppm, ec of the grey water? I'd love to use my runoff for something, but I wasn't sure if any kind of research had been done on what's actually in the runoff?

    hanging plants in chicken run

I think that's a great idea! Just as long as the plants get enough light & water it should work well. What kind of plant are you thinking of using?

    Growing fodder for chickens

I've grown tomatoes & peppers using the system for a long time, but there is a soilless medium in the bed....I'm not so sure it would work properly with bare seed.

    Growing fodder for chickens

@notafarm: I really doubt with that I'll be able to run a single layer of seed on that table, due to the drainage channels. I've only got limited experience with the small 13x9 trays so it seems like I would get a nice even balance of sprouts using that method. thanks!

    Fodder

Well that sounds like it ought to....I wonder how much more you'd yield if you were to let it go another day or two?

    Growing fodder for chickens

Hey folks. I've got a 4x4 ebb & flow table and would like to give it a go. My question is this, the bottom of the table has 1/2" channels which are sloped to allow drainage...how deep should I lay the seeds? I'm thinking I can place about 25lbs. Of seed in the table....top watering the entire...

    Fodder

what are the conditions you are growing in? I know that 4lbs. isn't the best yield, but it's still four times better then what you started with.
