I have owls out to deter the hawks. Should I be moving them daily to different places around 3 acres or just around the pond area where the ducks spend their time? I know the hawks will catch on if not moved -but am I moving them to close to previous location??
I had 2 drakes, one was just killed by a hawk, I’m getting a new duck, so the remaining duck is not alone. Should I get a duckling or an adult duck? Will an adult duck fall into place with my duck & me? I’m not sure which is best- a duckling or adult duck- my duck is my pet & I interact with him...
I know they fight for dominance, but one runs the nice one out of the pond, chases him around the yard, etc. I just want to make sure the other 2 will get along, before I split the 2 mean ones. Those 2 are brothers.
Getting rid of the one & keeping the bullies isn’t an option. I have to keep one & rehome the other or rehome both & get a baby duck. I was wanting to know if anyone had this happen & would a bully stop if the partner was gone & it’s just 2 of them.
I have 3 drakes that are adults & a 9 week duckling, the duckling has been staying with them at night separated, until 2 nights ago and that is going well. When do I need to let the duckling out to free range with the others? He had his own pin outside now.
I’m a nervous wreck about it..I only got him so the 1 duck being bullied & is always alone, would have a companion. He has been with me the longest- his companion was killed by a hawk last year, which is why I got the other 2- for him to have companions, now they bully him & he still alone. It’s...
I have 3 drakes- 2 are a year old & 1 is 3 years old. I keep the baby inside & have a separate place fir him during the day outside. What age do you think I should start putting him in the pin at night? The pin during the day is by the house, the big ducks stay out at the pond & creek.
