I will try that Duckstruck. Although I usually have to chase him around to pick him up. I have found a few other tips on how to stop the behavior that I will also try if picking him up doesn't work.
I have come to figure out that both my Khaki Campbell and my Rouen are drakes. These are the only ducks I own. I am new to ducks and I am not sure what is normal and what isn't. But my Khaki Campbell has started getting aggressive towards me, or at least I think it's aggression.
What he does...
Thank you very much! He isn't big on swimming anyway. Yesterday was the first time he actually tried. But all he has done since is just lay on the deck next to the pond. He puts his head in and splashes the water onto his back. I think this may have traumatized him and he is afraid of swimming...
Thank you! I did do the peroxide full strength last night and he certainly wasn't too happy about that. I will make sure to dilute it this morning when I let them out of their coop in about 45 minutes. How many days should I do the peroxide?
My Khaki Campbell, Latte, decided that he was finally going to try swimming in the pond today. As he was jumping out of the pond somehow he tore out his back nail on his right foot. It bled for a few minutes and then stopped. I of course went out and bought an all natural wound spray meant for...
Well one of them has finally figured out what the pond is for and I can't keep him/her out of the water now. lol I am hoping the other one will realize it soon.
Here is Squeaker in the pond. And Latte is just standing on the deck drinking from the pond.
Hey again everyone! So, the ducks are finally outside in their enclosure with a pond. They have been out there since Saturday and I still can't get them to go in the pond.
Of course it took 3 days to finally get Squeaker to go up the ramp to the pond. Squeaker did try 2 or 3 times yesterday but...
At what age do I switch ducks from chick grit to poultry grit? I have been searching high and low to find the answer but I just come up with answers for chickens. They will be 6 weeks old tomorrow.
My ducks need the grit at the moment as they are still inside because the duck house/run my...
Ok thank you. Although they are only getting 16% protein and I am feeding them greens and grass. They have been getting greens and grass for about 3 weeks now, they are 5 weeks old today. I didn't start giving the food with less protein until last week because I didn't realize they needed less...
I think one of my ducklings might have Angel wing. But it is only one wing. Can angel wing happen to one wing? I am posting pictures. It is difficult to get Squeaker to stand still long enough to take pictures. lol
On the right.
This one he/she is at the bottom of the picture.
I decided I would try something different today. I went to the dollar store and got an aluminum roaster pan and put warm water in it. It took a little convincing with some romaine lettuce to get them to even go near it. But once they were in it they realized they liked it. I only let them play...
Thanks for the help. I guess I will just have to keep trying everyday until they finally decide to try. I might also try romaine lettuce since it is also one of their favorite treats.
I'm new here and did a search to see if anyone had tips as how to get my ducks to go in their pool and didn't really find the answer.
I bought my ducklings when they were 4 or 5 days old. I was told by the people at the feed store that the ducks absolutely cannot get wet until they have their...
Thanks everyone! It is definitely a learning experience for me with these ducklings. I think I need to go look through the duck forums to see how to get my ducks in their pool. lol
