Ok thank you! I syringed some of the water with tetroxy into her as she wasn't drinking so hopefully that will perk her up. I will keep you posted. Sadly, we came home to find another of my polish walking with the same limp. Has anyone ever seen this as a symptom with nasal discharge and weepy...
I gave it to them for a full 5 days, 2 days off then when I noticed a decline they went back on it yesterday. Would you cycle off that and start the tetroxy?
Hi All
I hope someone can shed some light on what's wrong with my chicken. She's about a year and a half old Polish hen. I noticed she was getting lethargic a few weeks back when I had another Polish from the same flock that was very ill and we eventually had to cull her. We had a bout of lice...
If they are moving then it seems they are close to hatching - maybe a couple days off. Keep them misted - not too much, just lightly moistened, keep the temp up, stop turning them as they probably should be in lockdown and good luck! Please keep us updated. Not much else you can do!

I had a khaki that had really bad legs, fortunately with a hobble I managed to get her walking again but the reason I'm replying is that I thought she would never be able to walk. We talked about those little devices they have for dogs - like a stick with a wheel on? Is there any way you could...
Just wait patiently and watch. There's nothing else you can do. Hope the little ones make it! Patience is the hardest attribute while hatching, but it certainly is a virtue. Good luck!
Good question. I'd like to hear an answer to this from some experienced hatchers too please! I think this is why my duck hatch was so low. We suddenly had staggered hatch times due to our hens not being able to hatch their eggs so I brought them in and I think this compromised the ducks...
Hi there! You need to be careful with chicks as their sharp beaks can poke eyes out. Saying that, I currently have a day old duckling, in with our 1 week old chicks. They're about the same size and the chicks accepted the duckling almost immediately.
Maybe put them together and watch over...
I am so sorry to hear that Michelle.
I, too, think my last 4 duck eggs are dead . I heard one of them chirping away in there the other day and nothing for over 24 hours, no pipping or anything. I had a feeling they were dead and I just candled and nothing. It looks like they drowned? The...
So look who made it out of her shell all by herself while Mum was at work!! I saw her little pip hole earlier and by God it was so hard to leave her. Came back at midday and there she was on the other side of the bator all by herself! (sorry pics a bit blurry, couldn't get her to stay still!)...
And I just checked my other chicken eggs that are still in the bator and one's pipping through and another's chirping at me!! Oh my gosh how am I going to get anything done the next few days?!
Hi qwackers! Here is a photo of the babes in the bator. Number 1 has a little crack in it and he's chirping away like a canary in there. Number 4 is also rocking and rolling and I can see a little dark patch on the edge where it looks like he's about to pip through (I hope!) I thought number 4...
Peas! My ducks will do backflips for peas! Just defrost some, start sprinkling them in their coop while making a noise that you will use as your 'call'. Then start making the call but keep the peas in your hands, or throw them steadily closer to you. I have an older duck who is just getting...
Hi pfost, don't worry, I had this same problem a few weeks ago with my khaki Hazel who could barely walk. You'll be pleased to know that with niacin and some TLC she's now zipping around the pond and garden like an olympic athlete
You can buy regular niacin at any pharmacy, crush 100 - 150mg...
