    Hawk deterrent

I believe it is a Coopers hawk. My husband watched it catch a mole & ive seen it go for the chickens. Its possible it hangs around for other things but this is the first time I've had a hawk hang around with humans outside as well. We can be in the yard and it shrieks at us. We've sent a couple...

    Hawk deterrent

I have dogs outside, but lately we've had a mentally unstable hawk? It just sits in trees and shrieks for the last week. Or swoops at everything dogs present or not. What can I do with that? I really don't know how to get it to move on.

It all started a couple weeks ago, one of our Jersey Giants went broody. Not much more than a week passed that our Silkie succumbed. Then a couple days ago, one of our buff cornishs fell as well. How do we get them to quit, or at least stop the cycle??? We have 3 broody hens now and only 3...

    Broody Silkie

Our little Silkie Honey Mustard has become broody. Husband tells me I should leave all the eggs in the nesting boxes so she will quit. Is this true? http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f134/edeckah/100MEDIA_IMAG07441.jpg

Hw do I get my new puppy to be calm around my hens?

My shepard mix smushed a couple babies by accident trying to herd them. And then tried licking them back to health But I'm wondering, are hunting dogs more of a problem than "herding" dogs?

    Randy Roo

So I have this light brahma rooster who is pretty big. He mounts, or tries to, pretty much any or all of them. But there is one hen who is probably always been the naughtiest one who he picks on the most. It's gotten to the point where he's pulling out huge amounts of feathers. She's missing...

    Easter Eggers

We have had problems with chickens flying over the fence and annoying the neighbors. So my DH put up a 4 1/2' fence. Not too long after that our oldest EE Dumpling flew right over. In the following weeks 2 more EE have traveled over the fence. We eventually had to clip Dumpling's wings but...
