got home seriousl at 12:30 Am, baby #2 was born and almost dry, both are in a plastic shoe box on top of the bator in a dry dish towel. will be funny in a few weeks and the babies follow me around. after all, I am the first thing they have seen.
as funny as it sounds, I went to a pet shop that sells the reptile humidity gauge and thomometer, and they are the exact same models shown in pictures on the forum. the temp is good up to 120 degrees, and digital will show within .1 degree ont hemeter where as the one that comes with it reads...
if you do by chance find one, be careful carring it, if it breaks, it will gag you, you cannot wash it off quick enough, and worse, it more likely has built up pressue in the egg and will actually explode from the pressure. find a rock, throw toward rock to break, hope the wind is blowing away...

my words of advice, wqatch the temp, get a humidity gauge, keet it at 45 -50 %, and in case you cannot be home, get the turner. chickes are usually 21 days turkeys are 24-27 (mine came at 24) I just started hatching mine this morning after 24 days. have a digital thometer, wire thru window...
and if you think it is gross, it was slimy this morning taking out of the egg, but the thin coating is still on the keet, that is just the egg, not skin.
here is my first baby, I was woke up at 2 AM from it. took it from the egg at 8 AM, took picture at 9:30AM. all eggs on back row may be rotten eggs, just going to wait on them. I did not expect the eggs until thursday to hatch, so it is all a waiting game. I do keep the humidity at about 50...
I candled the eggs earlier today and marked them with a red marker, here is the only picture in the dark that would take cearly, the red marked ones are given until sunday to be darker or be taken out. oddly, some that were dark earlier became lighter oddly later when I took the PIC.
I am hatching turkeys, the pamplet says 27 days to hatch, I counted day 1 as zero and prediced 5-22 as day of first hatch. I cannot take the turner out during the night, I usually get home form work about 12:30 AM I will take the turner out before going to work monday, I have the bator near...
we have had as I expected a few blackouts and power failures in the past week, the UPS has beeped as it is supposed to, I have had to adjust the temp about evry other day, keeping it at 99 degrees as best I can, only allow to go above 102 for just 1 day, have kept as close as possible to the 99...
I candled the eggs today, I have kept the eggs between 99 -100 degess and added water as needed to keep the humidity at about 45%. there is no water in the little trough, but the hunidity is at 45%. mine should be hatching about next thursday, about monday, I am taking all the eggs off the...
OK, 3 days, due next thursday on 5-22 - 3 =5-19, do it monday morning off with the auto egg turner, OK, I can do that with the turkey eggs. oh, as backup plan, I do have a turkey sitting on eggs, but she only got to keep about 5- 6 eggs, and they should hatch about a week later.
