Well, my wife just got beside herself today. Our hen
just hatched a newborn chick on the 28th, here it is a day old and the hen will not let us near the chick.
Proud Parents.
Question in the wild how does the mama hen care for her young?
Does she have a way to feed it, or does it naturally...
I tend to lean on the Cochin + ? due to the pictures I see of Cochin's here have the same feathered feet.
I will try to get a closer picture tommorrow.
Thanks again for the help.
Recieved this hen from a family member who has no idea of the breed. I don't have a clue.
I was thinking along the brahma family but they all seem white. Buff? this one has feathers on feet.
Thanks for the input in advance.
Thank you all for your input, last night the temp inside the incubator did fluctuate as normal but the temp inside the fake egg did stay stable at 99.5 to 100 all night. I believe now I will wait for my rooster and hens to give me a fertilized egg and we will start this baby and try to hatch and...
Thanks Chotii, I believe you are right tonight will cover cooler with a blanket and see what happens. The temp guage I have records the high and low temp will get it to a 100 which is what it gets to now. Then drops to 96 prior to kicking on. Well wish me luck if this is the case think I will...
Temperature in the incubator should be 99.5 degrees F to 100 degrees F (37.5 degrees C). If the temperature deviates more than degree from 100 degrees F, a poor hatch is likely. Temperature should be checked at least twice a day.
Found this on a link from Silkie Chicken.
I am just having a...
A real egg? What do you do with that?
The question is;
Should my temp in the egg have to be stable at 100 degrees?
Or should the temp in the incubator be stable, because my fluctuates 5 degrees.
