Summer, 7 months old Australorp and still no eggs?

This may be true. I have a Welsummer who has laid only 3 eggs in almost 2 years. It took her 15 months to lay her first egg. How disappointing is that? Just plain sucks!!

Hardly any eggs in weeks! What could be the issue?

I have been wondering what in the world could be the lull myself. I have been looking all around the yard for a good month to see if they had been laying somewhere else, but found nothing. I did find a large snake by the coop one day and was wondering if it was eating all my eggs, but with a...

Chickens survived Hurricane Irene - Run did not!!!p

Before the hurricane my husband loved his trees. We have about 35 mature trees all around the house and they are so pretty and help keep the house and yard cool in the summer. After the hurricane my husband wants to cut all the trees down. I still don't understand why certain ones fell and...

Chickens survived Hurricane Irene - Run did not!!!p

Thanks everyone for the support. We have taken it all down today and plan to start rebuilding tomorrow. I am going to make the run bigger because unfortunately I didn't understand chicken math when we first built it. I planned on only having 3 chickens and now have 8. I can't wait to rebuild...

Chickens survived Hurricane Irene - Run did not!!!p

Hurricane Irene tore through eastern North Carolina on Saturday. I was so worried about my chickens, but was prepared and locked everybody in their coop with food and water for the day. I never expected the trees near the coop to come crashing down. It was my first hurricane. What an awful...

He's the only one that has been affected. I didn't realize it was affecting him so bad. I feel so bad for him. I'm a bad chicken mamma.

Help!! Sick Chicken - May not live through night

He liked the water bath. Tried to bite me. That's a good sign. I got some water in him and put an ice pack under him. What should I do during the day? They have plenty of shade and water. They free range mostly.

Help!! Sick Chicken - May not live through night

I looked him over and don't see any mites or lice, but starting to wonder about his crop. It feels like a grapefruit size. It is squinchy, not rock hard. Is that normal?

Since he didn't go into the coop tonight, I am thinking he may not make it through the night. He doesn't have any energy at all.

Help!! Sick Chicken - May not live through night

Sooo.... I am new to chickens so I will try my best to explain what is going on best that I can. My rooster for the past couple of month has been kinda lethargic (he is about 24 weeks old). I thought it was due to the North Carolina heat. It is very hot lately. The only thing noticeable...
