Stone Mountain Farms
We (my family) are very proud of our little farm and our recent additions...chickens. We became Silkie fanatics and have 15 beautiful birds living in the best little coup. My husband worked so hard on the coup and run and we just love him for it. He doesn't appreciate the...
One of my runner duck hatchlings came out of the egg with some "goop" anyway...it was attached at the belly and I am afraid it has pulled some of the intestines out with it. Is there anything I can do? There is no free flowing blood or mucus or anything. It appears dry. Suggestions.
Had an Indian Runner duck to hatch this morning. I thought it looked strange but when it dried some I noticed that the little bit of junk left over was more than that...it looks like its intestines are pulled out. Dont know what to do. Any advice?
My sister-in-law works for a vet and the other day a woman came in with a little duck? goose? that she found wandering alone down the 4 lane. So because I have ducklings already she brougt it to me. She is so cute...solid yellow with orange beak and legs, dark eyes. Any ideas what breed. I...
2 of the 3 Indian Runner eggs I set are pipped and rockin like wild! Hopefully the kids and I will get to see a full hatch today before school lets out!!!

I have 2 pips adn 3 more rockin!!!! These are some eggs that my sizzle hen was sitting on and then quit. I stuck them in the bator 2 weeks ago and was getting ready to throw them out when I saw them rockin!!! I'm so excited!!!!!!!! Now lets see if it really happens!
I was told by my chicken man (old timer at that) to wait until they were of good size and then to use the cider vinegar about once a month for the worms, etc. I think that they need plain old H2O majority of the time, right?
I picked out 6 with good vaulted skulls and lively little peeps. I hope that they turn out well. I hatched 3 with my students a couple of weeks ago so they are in brooder #2 in the basement. It surprises me though that TSC had them. Even more surprised that I had to tell them what they were...
While at my local TSC tonight I stumbled upon a brooder of "Assorted Bantam" chicks. Upon further examination I noticed that they all had 5 toes, black skin and beaks as well as black feet. Can you guys think of anything else these could be? I will post pics ASAP. Thanks
