Jeria, I know what you mean. I have a brooder, a separate pen for the rooster we're having for dinner, timbers for my raised garden that was supposed to get finished today, AND 70 ft of fencing. All in a one car garage. Too many projects! :barnie How old are your chicks now? I moved mine...

Help! Hunting Dog suddenly will not leave the chickens alone

Hopefully I'll be able to get some good advice on my situation. I have two dogs, both are trained to hunt (they're multi-purpose, they hunt birds, racoons, moles, rabbits, flies etc). Naturally around the 4th my dogs go nuts because the fireworks sound like gunshots. They aren't scared, they...

Feldmans I believe is the one that you are referring to. They have chick days on the occassion and they have some good supplies but their feed quality is less than stellar. But their dog food selection is great. :)

I'm in Grain Valley. But Kearney Feed is just off of 35N, the first Kearney exit. 300 W Washington St, Kearney, MO 64060 They are the only feed store that's close to me that offers Blair chicken feed.

On a side note. I'll post them on a different thread as well but figured I'd offer up to Missouri people first. We've decided that we're only going to butcher one of our cockrels. The other two have been really docile with the pullets and would be good roosters. We would like to rehome them. If...

I've gotten all my chicks from Heartland Hatchery in Amsterdam, MO. They have ducks but I'm not sure if they're the breeds you're looking for, but I'm sure if you give him a call Alan would be able to point you in the right direction. They've been super helpful with any of my questions or...

Mysterious Polish Chicken, Hen or Roo?

Well unless she's trying to imitate the other cockrels, Jenny is a Jimmy. Heard a sad but heartfelt attempt to crow when I went outside this morning. I appreciate everyones input. Didn't want to have to separate him with the rest of the cockrels if I didnt have to, but looks like I will be doing...

I hear you there! I feel like we've lived at Home Depot with all the projects we've got going on. My yard is fenced on two sides already (luckily). So we're just needing to finish up the remaining two. What type of coop are you planning on building? A coop/run combo or are you letting yours...

Thanks! I've been using BYC as a resource since before I finally gave in to the boyfriend and got chickens. Now I'm the addicted one. Figured I might as well join with how much I already used it as a resource.

I may keep one. If Jenny (my polish) turns out to be a Jimmy we'll keep that one. But the others will probably get fattened up and roasted. BUT for now they're good entertainment. We're waiting on the city to approve our fence permit so that we can let them out more often. Right now just the...

Mysterious Polish Chicken, Hen or Roo?

I'll see if I can get some better pictures of her here in a bit once they calm down. They're all riled up from getting some Tomato worms as treats off my tomato plant

Grain Valley for me. We can't have roosters either so mine will have to go to the chopping block or be sold here pretty soon. The brown one has already tried to crow. We called up to city hall and they couldn't even tell us the chicken laws. The police officers response was "well it doesn't say...

One chick Pasting Up every morning! Super worried!

Chicks dont do well with regulating their own body heat until they lose their down. Make sure that you have not only a place for them to stay warm but also to cool off. My brooder had pine shavings under the heat lamp and construction grade sand mixed with pine shavings at the other end to help...

Hi Everyone! New to BYC and new to Chickens up in the KC Area. :frow Started with 5 chicks the beginning of May... now have two definite cockrels, seven pullets, and four still to be determined chicks. They're so addicting! One house, two adults, dogs, and 13 chickens. Shockingly my neighbors...
