calling any one from missouri

Hey, you're making progress! We got pounded by the storm last night. Lost power for about 9 hours. It finally came back on today around noon. Went to see Wonder Women at the theater with my hubby & daughter, then to the hobby store (trains, for the hubby). Finished with a drive through KFC for a bucket of chicken. That's what he wanted to do for Father's day. Am getting ready to head outside to get some work done. It's nice and cool outside.

Sounds like a good Father's day! Even with no power, hope it is back on. Friends here in the metro without power as well. I was lucky only a blink off and on.

Some progress on the coop. More supplies bought. One wall partially done. Lots of 2x4's cut and some painted. The basic frame of one wall done. I need to put things away and close it up for the night, Monday morning will be here too soon.

I butchered another meat chicken today. The one yesterday was 5 pounds dressed out. The one today was 4 pounds 13 ounces. They hatched the Tuesday before Easter and I don't let them eat 27/7. I am headed to bed soon. I am babysitting my 3 1/2 year old grandson in the morning and have to get up early to get to their house before his parents have to leave for work.

Edited to add: I did see the start of a yellow squash in my garden (finally).

Hi Everyone!
New to BYC and new to Chickens up in the KC Area. :frow

Started with 5 chicks the beginning of May... now have two definite cockrels, seven pullets, and four still to be determined chicks. They're so addicting!
One house, two adults, dogs, and 13 chickens. Shockingly my neighbors still like me :D

Just thought I'd drop in and say hi to the fellow Missouri folk.

Hi and welcome! Pretty flock! Mine are a few weeks behind yours and hoping to make lots of progress on my coop build with the cooler weather this weekend. I'm in Independence also basically new. I'm hoping the sexing on my 4 is correct as pullets since we can't have roosters per zoning laws and we can only have 6 chickens. Hope where you are doesn't have restrictions.

Grain Valley for me. We can't have roosters either so mine will have to go to the chopping block or be sold here pretty soon. The brown one has already tried to crow. We called up to city hall and they couldn't even tell us the chicken laws. The police officers response was "well it doesn't say that you can't have them so you're good" :woot

YAY! Grain Valley is a bit more of a country geared town, at least for now. I found the regs on line, you might not even have any. So are you keeping the roosters after calling city hall?

Welcome to BYC! We're glad you found us. When you have questions (and you will) BYC is a great place to go for answers.

I may keep one. If Jenny (my polish) turns out to be a Jimmy we'll keep that one. But the others will probably get fattened up and roasted.
BUT for now they're good entertainment. We're waiting on the city to approve our fence permit so that we can let them out more often. Right now just the babies get to roam around. My terrier doesnt let them go very far.
Also if anyone has tips on integrating two bunches that are 4 weeks apart I am all ears!
