calling any one from missouri

I have a Jenny also one of the Easter Eggers. MMM looks like you have a fence, or neighbors do, love your terrier herding. This cooler weather is awesome! I did inside chores after work today so I can spend the weekend working on my coop and run, I do have to mow the grass though. Hoping the wind dies down some so I can take the chicks outside to play. Goal is to get most of the frame up on the coop this weekend and the floor in. I will need a run to Menards for more supplies sometime on Sat. I still need to get the wood for the floor and the siding.

I hear you there! I feel like we've lived at Home Depot with all the projects we've got going on.
My yard is fenced on two sides already (luckily). So we're just needing to finish up the remaining two.
What type of coop are you planning on building? A coop/run combo or are you letting yours free range?
We have the small coop for now while their small and not laying. The big coop is the next project after the fence.

Try the new Menards it's cheaper for most things and more lumber choices though sort of a pain to do the drive in lumber yard the way you have to pay for items is a 3 step process. It's off 70 right @ Blue River Parkway just before 291, if you haven't been there.

4x6 raised coop enclosed in an 8x10 run. I've designed it myself as I didn't find one that fit what I wanted. I am running into technical building questions luckily mostly before I am tackling that area. I just have my drawings on graph paper that seem to be adjusted here and there but will post photos when I get it done. An interesting journey as I have never built anything before.

Little free range for mine unless supervised and I will have to clip their wings, just a 4 foot chain link fence. My house backs on to a wooded section of Mill Creek Park that winds south to Truman Library and to the north the creek ends up in the Missouri, so lots of predators. Plus I have a very playful and clutsey 2yr old lab/rotsy mix and a Boston terrier mix I don't think they would intentionally hurt them but try to get them to play. Next year I may build a small tractor run--see how things go.

The chicks are getting hauled outside today to a fenced raised bed that I need to replant with asparagus. I tried to move a bed last fall and it didn't work well so little is growing. Their first outside visit. First time the pups will see them as well as they have been in my basement laundry room and they don't go there.

Enjoy this beautiful day.

Took the peeps outside for their first voyage. I used my small dog grate and realized my fenced garden would not be secure so slid the tray out of the bottom. They loved the sun, plopped down to sunbathe it was funny. Met the dogs who were super excited, Boston mix licking them through the cage. Didn't stay out long as I wasn't prepared enough left the water inside, dummy. They all wanted attention through the grate as I was sitting on the ground by the cage, much more friendly than scooping them out of their brooder. I've had the light off in their brooder all day and they seem to be doing fine no huddles. Will post a photo from my phone of the sillies in the dog crate.

@jeria I like the picture. The 2 brown ones look a lot like some of my EE's. I don't remember what breed you said the other 2 are. I like the looks of the one I can see a full body shot on. Glad to hear that the dogs & chicks seemed to do ok together.

Also, when you complete your coop you should post your pictures & journey on the coop page!

2 Easter Eggers (Jenny and Tillie) , a barred rock (Roxy), and the one in front is Sassy my australorp.

Since the fencing on the garden is still too big for them to get through 2x3 inch I may take them out front today while working on the coop and on breaks let one out at a time to roam a bit with me right there. Depends on if the neighbor's cat and another dog up the street are loose.

2 walls framed and the lumber cut and painted for the other 2, except a couple support pieces that I will need to measure after part is assembled. My right arm and hand barely worked last night as so tired from the heavy drill ;)
